Gamestop will never be a leading retro seller. They don’t check their trades ins for authenticity or function. I’ve also had trouble returning games to Gamestop when they were fake or didn’t work.

The manager at a GameStop near me is super cool and awesome to chat with but man...this dude broke out n64 games talking about "we take retro games now it's so cool". One of them was real, 4 were fake. Had to show him how they were fake like four different ways. His response "yeah well customers who just wanna play the game won't care or notice". Like really? Lmfao that's awful......

Gamecube discs are really picky when resurfaced, you have to use a nicer machine with the right pad and it's even better if you use a spacer that also goes around the edge to prevent the edge from being unevenly worn down.

This is why when I order online, I only do Ebay and I check the seller's rating. My first option are local shops, my second is Ebay. You have got to be careful.

When they put a GameCube disc or regular disc in a machine to resurface, sometimes they put a white or blue solution to buff the disc, the disc starts to separate over time where the circle is and that solution gets inside… Looks like that’s what happened to that Mario party. This is why you see a lot of Xbox 360 games like that with that white gunk stuck in that circle where the hole is. Anyway much respect! Stay up!

Definitely a showcase of where emulation can shine and is just as important as original hardware. Original hardware can have faults such as consoles failing and why i cant completely stick to native hardware have to flop between the two.

I 100% agree. The top end games will see somewhat of a hit, I think this will affect the more common games (Mario, Pokemon, etc.) more than anything, since those are the games that most everyone wants.

Moving to Japan right out college removed this experience albeit I didn't do so not for the situation described. Recently I realize how things are in the US for people in their early 40s and younger... Here I could pay off my loans but still save enough money for a house and family and to live a more advanced, safer, and more convenient lifestyle than if staying in the US... Plus having thousands of games in my collection for what it is worth regarding this topic... It seems that this is a discussion the entire US culture should be having on many levels and not just on the level of a consumerist hobby...

The disks are rotting away. Also if the top of the disk is damaged that causes problems too.
@turtlehermit60479 күн бұрын
Disc rot will kill tons of games. That's when cartridges will shine. Best way to play is to hack your wii. Wii's are cheap. Find the older ones with GameCube controller ports. All you need is pc ..the Internet.. Flash drive ..and SD card. Then just follow hackmii. Hardest part is getting the games. But you can rip your wii and gamecube games to the wii's flash drive. It can play from all kinds of older systems as well as GameCube and Wii games. You can also install Wii ware games directly to the wii. Only way to do it now since the shop closed. Best system to mod because its cheap ..easy..and with no hard mods. The moding community keeps these systems and games alive ..long after the physical games are gone.

Retro gaming coincides with comic book collecting in a lot of ways IMO. I think each have had a "golden age", "silver age", etc. Lots of "first appearances" of series that are still going strong, or those underground games that have become cult classics (Horror comics of the 60's and 70's would be equivalent to a bunch of Atlas games for instance in the 90's in terms of appreciation long after their heyday). Neither games or comics were advertised as collectibles during their gold + silver age periods of time - and later when companies realized they were, we saw an over production occur (comic boom of the late 80's early 90's and then again with the MCU boom in the past 10 years .... the umpteen hundreds of special editions we've seen with gaming). What I'm getting at is both are different kinds of media - yet both can be experienced totally digital - and yet both are also still collectible. Even if we are all jacked into the matrix in 20 years, I don't think the market will ever fade. Physical collectibles are a part of what makes us human. We like to collect things.

Why comment when you never respond to anyone ever. Asking because I have been watching for a long time but frustrated that it seems to be a one sided conversation. A channel this small should be communicating with its audience to some degree.

Good luck to those whose debt wasn’t forgiven :/ Makes me question if I should wait for my bachelors after community college is done.

I have sent in a few orders with game stop in the past few months. If you buy over the free shipping amount you can get even better deals. The first order they send me one of the wrong games and told me just to keep it and then sent out another $20 nes cart i didnt have anyways . The second order one of the carts had a screw missing and found out the thread wouldn't hold a screw anymore. Well they just refunded me the $30 for that cart

GameCube games are very sensitive and can be cleared if all data if resurfaced too much. I'll leave a GameCube game scratched up without resurfacing it if it plays. Only in instances if a game freezes or not working will we resurface it for Just 2 to 3 seconds. Also if not working on a Wii system you should try a GameCube because I have seen them work in one system but not the other when it comes to problems with the disc itself.

thats called "disc rot" older disc's and certain brands of manufacturers used are very likely to start rotting within a few years. make back ups of all games no matter what. iso files are ez to manage even for gamecube. i dont use disc based systems any longer due to the life span of the games. the few disc based systems i do own i removed the need to use a disc reader to play game files.
