Game Gear port of the popular snes title Super Starwars: Return of the Jedi.
I didnt really play that well, but made it through non the less. I think the video would have been half the length if I just simply avoided the enemy and jumped over them until the end of the levels.
I set to Hard incase of any special ending, but it just made the game ..well harder, as the weapons are so low powered until you find some powerups which I could find any in the wicket level which made the boss fight annoying.
I got abit lost in the Shield Generator level as was following the arrows and ended up going rounds in circles lol.
Although not that close to the snes original, it not a bad game and the gfx are well drawn, detailed and even the music isnt bad considering the poor audio hardware. -

Wow! You even get to fight Palpatine's Imperial Advisors onboard the Death Star? That was a nice touch by the programmers to include them as opponents. (In best James Earl Jones impression) "Impressive. Most, impressive."

Too bad these games weren't on the Genesis, would have been awesome with better resolution and less slowdown than the SNES.

Agreed! Super Star Wars was finished for Genesis and moved to the SEGA CD. The alpha was leaked by hidden palace a year ago, hope that they found the last build that was probably from the end of 93

Sail Barge stage on the SNES version, you fight with a unused concept of Rancor (1981 concept art)! I still prefer this version that you confront Boba Fett

yea, that monster should have been scrapped for Boba Fett. still give the snes game an 8.8/10. very fair difficulty finally, great graphics and sound as well

This game was like crack for me. I played this so much I never got to the end tho but I loved it. I was only like 9 but man this was amazing. Back-lit screen, good music, it was amazing

This is like GameBoy sound, but SNES visuals/imagery!!! If I didn't have the Hyperkin SupaBoy Hyper Beach; A portable SNES, & Super GameBoy cartridge, & wasn't looking for a working Super Return of the Jedi GameBoy cartridge, I'd totally look for a Game Gear & this!!!

I like to play the game like this: Level 1-Chewbacca Level 2-Leia Level 3-Luke Level 4-Chewbacca Level 5-Leia Level 6-Wicket Level 7-Han (Rest of the game you don't get to choose what character you play on any of the levels)

They made a Game Gear game for this and the original STAR WARS movie but skipped THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

NES had the same situation. They got Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back, but no Return Of The Jedi. Weird. At the very least, the Game Gear versions of Star Wars & Jedi are actually very solid. I'm surprised the Game Gear Star Wars was good being that it was developed by TierTex, who are known for being a HORRIBLE developer.

Was a Sega game gear same spec as a Sega master system?

No, much of the hardware is very similar to the Master System but not 100% identical. For example, the Game Gear's video chipset has significant improvements over the Master System's. The sound chip has a stereo extension feature, as is evidenced in this video. Whereas the Master System has mono. This is why Master System games were compatible with the Game Gear but not the reverse.

@@Gameboy-Unboxings In many ways, yes. Several years had passed between the development and release of the Master System/Mark III and the Game Gear and that's reflected in its spec. Dave Needle who co-designed the Atari Lynx revealed that originally the Lynx was pitched to Sega, who passed but then came up with the Game Gear - which they later hired him as a consultant to oversee and Needle saw that they'd copied much of the Lynx's engineering.

Yeah, it's a bit strange. Another Game Gear game that Realtime Associates developed was Captain America & The Avengers and in that game there was a situation that was the same. When fighting Juggernaut, instead of his outfit being brown, it's yellow for some reason.

The Game Boy version sounds better. Also TecToy could have ported this to the Master System in Brazil in 1996.

i had the gameboy version of this... game gear version is sooooooo much better looking. and to ruby... SNes version is a different game. it might (didnt watch that far) share some bosses or enemies, but in the 1st few lvls you can see the lvl designs are way different. the SNes game isn't a port of the gb or gg games or vice versa. its more similar to genesis sonic and game gear sonic, dif game & platform/same name... most likely for sales purposes (name recognition = $). we get you're a nintendo fan, but there isn't need to put it in sega fans (or anyone's) face...that makes nintendo fans look bad.

Bloodlines has WAYYYYY more visual effects than SIV's cute hardware effects and it was an actual continuation of the story instead of a ghey reboot, ANDDD remember that trash n64 castlevania? Wow, mid 90's platform games sucked. They're so stupidly hard; and I never did like the utterly inane platform "logic". This is an impressive GG programming achievement, but at the same time, one shot from a lightsaber should kill the bad guy - or you!
