"I am you, writ small" says Tyrion to his father in A Storm of Swords before loosing his crossbow. Tyrion is truly Twyin's son, no matter what the theories say. He's Tywin reborn but with (slightly) more empathy and baggage plus a dwarf. Tyrion is not the good guy, he is a complex antagonist that the show refused to develop.
@fives.
@fives. Жыл бұрын
@@mjhilps Book Tyrion, yes, because his conduct was far too merciless to warrant a character-build. Show Tyrion is where I will disagree, but mostly for true fact he did experience growth and change, but it was through honest tragedy & failure as opposed to clumsiness through excess & his family’s suppression of him. Both times he went on trial in front of the Iron Throne, he didn’t deserve to be there, but the failures and mistakes made to get him there were his completely, regardless of how good/decent of a person he turned out to be. Great example is how hard Varys’ death stuck in his mind the more despotic Daenerys effectively became.

The way he delivered the *”I saved the city! I saved all your worthless lives! I should have let Stannis KILL YOU ALL!”* line so powerfully makes me think that the actor drew upon some sort of personal experience of a friend betraying him even after he saved them
@x-omnistar-x9602
@x-omnistar-x9602 8 ай бұрын
It’s more than that. Since one of the only reasons why Tywin hasn’t dismissed this trial is because he hates Tyrion for being a dwarf, Peter Dinklage could relate to his character on a downright spiritual level. Everything he says right here is simply Peter Dinklage venting his anger and frustration over the discrimination he’s undoubtedly received throughout his life.

It's not necessarily that. Tywin's children for the most part have always been under the thumb of their father. That normally listened to him. But this was Tyrion's way of saying dad you won't get what you want, he wasn't going to die for something he didn't do, and more importantly he was tired of being manipulated by his father.

Can you imagine if Tyrion kept on this darker path. Not only would we get more examples of Peter’s amazing abilities as an actor like this one, but it’d make sense for the ending. If a bitter and spiteful Tyrion was there poisoning Dany’s mind, then her decision later would’ve made more sense.

@@slashslash92 basically, When Jamie saves tyrion from trial He thinks it's the last time he will see tyrion so he confesses that tyrion's love taisha wasn't a whore and tywin made Jamie lie to tyrion that she was a whore (in case you didn't know, tywin made dozen soldier rap* her and then made tyrion do her). This completely sets off tyrion and he swears he will burn kings landing and kill cerci and Jamie. He also tells Jamie how cerci is sleeping with other men (furthering the plot of Jamie leaving cerci which didn't happen in show) And this will eventually lead to tyrion corrupting dany into burning kings landing. Which wasn't in the show because DnD are idiots. There are even bigger plot lines DnD removed from the show, I honestly tell you to read the books. 100x better then the show

That assumption might take away from the performance. It would suggest that Peter didn't need to act here, he was just playing himself and venting his own personal frustrations. I don't know whether Peter is that trivial on his relationship with his condition, and doesn't appear to have spent his whole life trying to drink & whore his way in denial (like Tyrion had - up until this point). This moment is very specifically a Tyrion/Tywin character arc moment (rather than a generic short person moment) - and Peter is acting it superbly.

I never noticed the little smirk at 2:25 that Tyrion gives as he and Tywin stare each other down. I love it.

This scene still gives me chills even years later. The emotion that Peter Dinklage brought to his final speech is just gut-wrenching. His acting was phenomenal, truly one of the best actors out there.

More than the great acting, the soundtrack truly makes this hit different strings within my nerves. Astounding to say the least

The best character in this story. A very honorable man. My heart cried for him in this scene but I also felt proud. He kept his honor intact.
