I’m viewing this as an awesome way to play games like Hades, Disco Elisium etc, and then saving the more power hungry games for my PC/PS5. 512GB pre-ordered. Given the current state of things, I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see these not actually ship till spring of next year. We’ll see.

I'm not a PC gamer but when I do, I scroll through my game library for half an hour then, I boot up a game after which, I close the game and do something else. I miss having fun gaming.

It can absolutely play gamepass, because you can install windows 10/11 on it. If you're willing to use big picture mode, it will be just like running a regular pc, so no compatibility issues.

Done the £4 reservation for the 256GB model, in the Q2 2022 slot. By then, I'll know if it's received well or not, and can opt out if it makes sense to. The console, given how it's Valve on the back and not Steam, should have been called the Portal, and come in Aperture Science packaging.

The thing I'm most anticipating are portable mods and PC games. I've always wanted to play games like Sekiro and Persona Golden portably and also modded Stardew valley so this really is a dream come true.

Just pre ordered 256GB being able to play 3rd party games on the go the way they were intended to be played not “Legacy” versions of FIFA as an example will be huge. Nintendo will still be my indie and Mario console. Both devices can coexist

Settings > PC-like Track Pad Sensitivity Settings, _(that you didn't use :\),_ per game > PC-Like Giroscope Sensitivity Settings : You got yourself a Sniper in your hands. This thing is awesome & should absolutely evolve. Every PC Manufacturer now could bring : Better Hardware, better design, better pixels _(OLED :s),_ and run everything on SteamOS, or Linux, or Windows.

The trackpads + gyro are the most underrated feature on the steam deck. I'm glad they included a traditional dpad + 2 analog sticks for traditional controller gameplay but steam controller users know you can do everything with just the trackpads combined with gyro gives you mouse like precision with a controller. I'm sure this device will get more people to try out the dual trackpad layout in combination with a gyro.

The multi-genre questions ABSOLUTELY helps - when Tom mentioned that they spent the same amount of questions narrowing down the genres as they would if they just asked them one by one is forgetting a couple of things: a) first of all, prior to this question, you had eliminated 3 genres already thanks to an earlier multi-genre question b) second of all, once Daemon said "yes", you knew it was one of those three genres - if you were guessing them one by one, you may not have known to ask those 3 genres, but you did know this because Daemon answered yes, which helps.

That Galaxy Force you saw on the FM towns was a classic arcade game, most commonly played on the genesis and improved for the PS2 ages collection. You can play it in its true best form in full 3D glory on the 3ds! The sega 3d collections on the 3ds have a lot of scalers that finally realize the effect they originally wanted to give off, with the 3d slider on of course. Best version of streets of rage 2, looks like a pop up book. Scoop?

Galaxy Force 2 was a Sega Arcade game, I used to play it at the arcades all the time. Hard believe any home console could run that game prior to the Dreamcast in the 90s.

"Rayden" isn't spelled wrong. That was just how they spelled his name through the series on Nintendo consoles. That was also a dead giveaway by always showing the SNES versions of MK in ads.

For PC gaming in the living room with a TV, as long as Steam is running in the background your controller works as the mouse. Keep a super slim profile wireless keyboard mouse combo board slid under the sofa for the rare occasion you need to type or something.

Not gabeboy or steamboy it’s the GABE GEAR! Haha stoked on this more than anything gaming since the og switch was announced. Funny they called it a deck it kinda looks like a skate deck if it’s laying face down with the kick tails being the finger grips on either side. Steam stole my desire to upgrade my og switch for the oled that’s for sure. And even if Nintendo where to release a pro, this is better... for what I want to play. The indie skateboard and Bmx games, Halo infinite, black mesa, metro exodus, etc.. everything😮

The Steam Deck seems pretty neat and I'm glad it exists, but I have a feeling it's not going to sell very well. PC gamers care about their specs largely and this isn't anything to write home about in that department, though it's certainly the most powerful handheld gaming console so far. But I have a feeling in a few years it will be struggling to run most new PC games, since that ecosystem is constantly pushing technical boundaries.

Btw, I agree this is great for 3rd party games, but it’s also over twice as heavy as a Lite and nearly 4” wider. I’m not tucking this in my back pocket like my Lite to take to work every day. So 3rd party games will remain as important as ever on Switch, especially since most portable gamers won’t own this. GPD Win has been doing handheld PCs for years, this is nothing new, it’s just from a more popular brand, and priced better.

Portable is a big deal. I know people that refuse to play on PC because they have this image of WoW player in a basement. Maybe this hybrid PC can change a few minds.
