Still figuring out how to make tutorial videos but this is how i add iphone speakers into my gameboy macros

The speakers used in this video were iphone 7, ive used 6s and 5c for sure.

I just completed this mod. One speaker pointing out the stylus hole is already way louder than a single, rear-facing stock speaker with extra holes. I can't imagine 2 speakers pointing out the top going at the same time xD

So I should be fine if I do the same thing in the video but with one iPhone speaker instead?

Yes one speaker will work. I also recommend bridging the left and right channels together with a small gauge wire

I really like it but doesn’t it cause overheating issues if you cover the CPU with that kapton tape?

if you put both speakers directly next to each other, isnt it mono sound then? i mean you wont be able to differentiate between left and right because it all comes from the same spot

if anyone wants way better sound use a pam8403 amplifier their very cheap and a single iphone 5s speaker (i aquired mine from a faulty iphone) and the sound is alot louder and more crisp

I'm planning on doing the same mod. How did you connect the speakers to the amplifier, did you add any diode? The guide I've found connects a 1N4007 diode on it, but it uses the original ds speakers.

@@nine3793 yeah I must have followed the same guide as that’s the diode I used as for speakers I think it’s just down to personal preference

Can you notate which is the positive trace on the iPhone 7 speaker and the negative trace?

it doesnt matter, you can use either pin on the speakers.

is there a mod to upgrade the screen(s) to something higher res or anything of the sort?

If somebody did make one, the game would still play at it's original resolution so the game would be smaller on the screen.

cant you just drill holes in the back of the ds lite shell for the sound?

I find that kinda ugly tbh. Also it still wont be as loud because the sound escapes into your hand or just in the opposite direction. The iphone speakers are also just louder in general than stock speakers.

Zach Lambert I can see that, right now I’m just trying to figure out the best location because I don’t really want to remove the DS slot because I have an R4 card for gameboy and snes games

Jason14 someone below said they put it into the styles slot and it was loud. Even though it’s into the half, it might be loud enough to hear still.

@@zarcha thanks so much for the help. I've decided that is probably the best position for me as well. The only thing that I had to do was remove some of the screw slots that were for the stylus holder that I no longer need.
