Who else misses Splinter Cell? I replayed them all last year and every one holds up

Dammit Jake this was a perfect opportunity to talk about one of your favourite games Mad Max.

Days Gone was criminally underrated. Played it recently on PC and it has risen to my top 5. 10/10!

Jade Empire deserves to be here. Just played through it recently for the first time and loved it. It's a great example of how good Bioware used to be. Highly recommend everyone play it. Sunset Overdrive is another one.

Kingdoms of Amalur was really a fun gem. Played it years after its release and still had a blast for like 100 hours.

Spec Ops: The Line was just a freaking completely unexpected experience that I still think about to this day after just the two back-to-back play throughs after it first released. Really needed a follow up.

Mad Max is also pretty slept on.

DUDES THANK YOU Ōkami is such a gem! I had it on the PS2, couldn't finish it because someone scratched the disk, then bought it again on PSN and finished it on the PS3 years later. Loved every minute of it

Outriders comes to mind. One of my favorite looter shooters of all time. One of the few games I actively grinded in and enjoyed it. Had a couple of game breaking bugs early on that tarnished its reputation, but I think its a massively underrated game. Really hope they make a sequel.

Immortals of Aveum chopped its own balls off. The publisher released it between Armored Core 6 and Baldur's gate 3. Dead in the water.

Prey from 2017 is one of the most underrated video games of all time. Don't think it met sales expectations

Sleeping Dogs has to be my top one. Very under rated game. Didnt sell that well which causes the studio to shut down. What a shame. Closest good GTA game thats not GTA

Jade Empire could have also made this list. It was such a good game, real time combat rpg with multiple fighting styles and a morality and romance system on par with fable. I was always so angry that it never got a sequel

I'm sad Marvel's guardians of the galaxy didn't sell well. I loved the game. I really want a sequel

I can add Evil Within series, Dead Space Remake and much more to this list, I think Evil Within deserves to be in the list.

Enslaved Odyssey too the West will always be the game that was a massive commercial failure but was phenomenal. It is my favorite game of the generation hands down. So glad it got a PC release. I adore that game.

I never even knew Alan Wake was underperforming. I loved it as soon as I started it and it’s still one of my top 5 games of all time.

Psychonauts. Did you know Psychonauts didn't even ship 100,000 copies in North America by the end of 2005?

Days gone not being on this list, hell not being top 5 is criminal. Days gone was excellent and a sequel would slap. Still hoping it comes to PC and sony reconsiders it.

I think the problem with Immortals of Aveum is it's basically a first person shooter, and I don't know, for me the fantasy of playing a mage with style is being able to see all the gestures, flapping robes and hair, the sparks and all effects around, selling the magnitude of their power. And no imagery I watch about this game shows me that to be honest.

i played blacklist more than 3 times. and i didn't know gotg didn't sell well because my brother and i really enjoyed that game

Spec Ops: The Line is still one of my favorite games to this day. That story is just amazing

Mirror's Edge deserved to be on the list. Short, but solid game with a unique colorful art style back when everything was buried in a sepia filter, and proved that first person view platforming can work.

Beyond Good & Evil is in my top 10 favorite games of all time, an absolutely underrated game. Highly recommend checking out the 20th anniversary edition that just released if you haven’t played it.

The Sabateur, Sleeping Dogs and Brutal Legend. Did Battle for Middle Earth II not sell well because that game was great. Definitely deserved a follow up. That was the last rts game I ever played and that was decades ago smh.

Alien Isolation still hurts, i blame IGN and Gamespot for that one. Unforgivable

SC Black List was fantastic. Better than Conviction for sure. I was initially a naysayer because I was, like many, upset that the signature vocals of Ironsides was replaced, but then I played it... and it ended up not really detracting from the stellar gameplay. It felt like the perfect blend of the stealth and smoothness of Chaos Theory (the best of the series) and the speed and action of Conviction. Though, I hope Ironsides returns for any future SC games, BL turned out to be great and I periodically return to it.

I am one of those who loved Alpha Protocol from the get go and wished it did well enough to get a sequel. I was pretty late to the party with Kingdome of Amular, but that turned out great.

Guardians of the Galaxy is such a fun game. Also, Kingdoms of Amalur is one amazing game. Over 100hrs first playthrough, not a game for impatient gamers. It's a game you live in and simply enjoy. Very good list.

#1 is Prey 2017. Easily the most underrated game of all time. Marketing team did an awful job, one of the greatest games of all time sold just a few.

I love the Blacklist shoutout. I was a little young to play Splinter Cell when it first came out. Once of my first rated-M games I played was Conviction on the 360 and I loved it. Blacklist and Conviction are the only two SC games I’ve played to this day and I still go back to them every now and then

I really want another Spec Ops, but remember an interview where the main game director (I forget the position title, idc lol) said something along the *lines* of “I’d rather drag my balls through a trail of broken glass than attempt another game”, lmfao.

Its so tragic that its been over 10 years since a splinter cell game. Use to be one of the best video games out. That whole era of good ass tom clancy games is gone and its so sad. Ghost recon future soldier and all the ones before it were great games too.

I was surprised and shocked that Okami was the first entry; that's one of MY favorite games. I owned it on PS2 and bought the HD remaster for PS4; it's a life-long keeper for me.

I was expecting a list of stuff I'd never heard of that I'd need to check out but I'm happy to see that I've actually played most of these.

Man, I loved Pillars of Eternity II deadfire, but it was commercial disappointment, making less money than the first game. While there probably won't be a Pillars of Eternity 3, we'll at least have Avowed releasing this year

Vanquish! VANQUISH!! Damn near NOBODY talks about this game anymore, despite coming from the already-cited Platinum games and Shinji Mikami. Freakin' AWESOME fast-paced shooter that still holds up and never got it's due. Vanquish! V A N Q U I S H!!!!!!!

Adding Valkyria Chronicles to this list. It eventually got its due diligence but still deserves more love.

Conduit 2 for the Wii is criminally underrated and underpurchased. It seriously pushed the Wii to its limits and is just a really solid FPS in general.

I love Immortals of Aveum and Kingdoms of Amalur. Enslaved: Journey to the West was another great game that unfortunately didn't sell well. The voice acting by Andy Serkis was excellent.

The fact that the choices you made actually mattered in alpha protocol made the game fun even past the flaws!

I can't say enough how this channel has just blown me away from Jake and Falcon to the editing to the fact that we get a new video every day to the endlessly entertaining content. This is just one of the best channels on this platform.

Great video - especially agree on Amalur and Alan Wake - one nitpick: Alien came out in 1979, not “the early ‘80s.” Correctly saying “the late ‘70s” probably would’ve made your example even stronger.

I believe, one other reason Alan Wake didn't sell that much on the release is because it was an Xbox 360 exclusive, so yeah, sell are going to be smaller compared to selling your game on all platforms.

Splinter Cell Black List was awesome. I miss this series.

Blacklist was a weird blend of Conviction and Double Agent that made an incredible Splinter Cell game that is the best one next to Chaos Theory.

Mad Max and Sunset Overdrive were the first 2 on my mind loved them both so much wish they did well enough for sequels

The problem with Kingdom of Amalur with me is that it very much feels like a "video game" video game. I never felt immersed in the game.

First, wow, I’m actually shocked that Alien Isolation “undersold” in any context. Second, Sleeping Dogs definitely could have taken someone’s place on this list. Super underrated and definitely deserved a sequel.

It’s weird that a game can sell 1, 2 even 3 million copies and still be considered a “failure.” I submit that maybe if big game companies weren’t so top heavy, with management making insane salaries compared to the people who actually create the games, games might be able to make more of the development and marketing money back.

Great list and I pretty much agree with every single selection. There could be a few more to list here though. I need to put some gameplay of a few more of these on my channel.

Okami was such a great fkn game back in the PS2 days. Its probably ONE of the best games of all time, still.

I would love to see a company that stops saying "the game failed to meet sales expectations" and instead goes with "we failed to sell audiences on the game". The game got made. And most of these on the list are genuinely great. They didn't fail. The people at the top, who are supposed to help make sure it finds an audience, did.

OKAMI WAS THE GOAT

Splinter cell blacklist is the closest thing we have to a john wick game in terms of combat. The fluid movement, takedowns, executions via the mark and execute function is just sooooo cool and satisfying. Its a shame this didnt take off more. So underrated.

To this day I'm shocked at the lack of praise for Alien Isolation. For what it attempted to do, it was a near perfect game.

I have to assume "Psi-ops: the mindgate conspiracy" didn't sell well because it never got a sequel, and that's a real shame. Psi-ops made much better use of psychic powers and physics than "control" and Psi-ops came out on the original xbox. The physics were amazing, and you could freaking tk surf man! You could hurl yourself at super speed all over the map, and that's on top of the other powers and abilities you got. Pyrokinesis, mind control, astral projection, you got way better guns, you could drive. it was awesome.

I love Okami dearly, and the "Hana Valley" theme still gives me the chills - it's a gorgeous soundtrack overall too.

Okami is legitimately one of the best games I have ever played and has been in my top 10 all time for almost 2 decades now. It did feel like I was the only person who played it back when it first came out, always tried to talk about it with friends but no one ever knew what I was talking about.

People do want new and original IP. They just don't want it to come out at the same time as their anticipated sequels, remakes, reboots, or remasters. The problem might be that the amount of people looking for a "new" or novel experience just isn't a large enough demographic to support it.

Alpha Protocol needs a Sequel That was the system that needed to be kept and improved not abandoned. There was and is nothing like this stealth genre. totally unique. Hope people play and push this game for xbox and obsidian to have another look.

Okami and Dead Space come to mind. I’m glad the remake of the latter was well received.

Blacklist is the only Splinter’s Cell game I have ever played. It was a rough start because the stealth mechanics were unforgiving. Repeated failures led to me getting better eventually, and when I beat the game for the first time, I felt I was ready to be a special agent in real life…you know, plotting a stealth route, where to hide and when to body roll while just walking around 😂. I thought it was the greatest stealth game and didn’t know why there was no follow up…it remains to be one of the few games I played through multiple times because I really enjoy the experience.

Immortal Of Aveum shows why big budget new IP is dead... simply way too risky...

I feel like Singularity and Eternal Darkness should be on this list. Both of them were really good games, imo.

Loved Guardians. The dialogue was amazing when walking around to the point that it made you _want_ to hear more as opposed to most games like say Suicide Squad where you can't wait for them to shut up. The levels are so unique and memorable, and the story is actually good.

Okami is one of the best experiencies I have ever had as a gamer. The story, the art style, the gameplay, the characters, everything is incredible and clearly done with much love involved. Even though I would like a sequel, I guess it's better left alone as the masterpiece that it is.

100% on board with Splinter Cell. That was my absolute favourite series back in the day. Another game I'm surprised NEVER seems to get mentioned in these underrated games lists is the 2004 survival horror game "The Suffering". That game was petrifying and had a real Silent Hill vibe. It was SO good and now it seems hardly anyone has even heard of it.

Saw the title and already knew Spec Ops was incoming. Game is a tragedy being that good while failing so hard.

If you like 3rd person shooter, you won't regret playing Spec Ops: The Line. Relatively cheap on ebay and a memorable experience.

Specs ops the line, is one of my all time favorite games. That napalm sequence has stuck with me all these years.

Alpha Protocol was such a step in the right direction for a brand new IP

Splinter cell conviction is my favorite not for the stealth but because I absolutely love Sam's anger sam Fisher has always been a calm and calculated person but oh boy when grim sparked him he exploded and it was glorious to play through and witness he felt like John wick 😊

Important and overlooked fact about Alpha Protocol: Gathering Intel is a key factor in the game and you absolutely CANNOT get ALL the intel in one playthrough - My second playthrough revealed to me that I was totally played by a character I trusted during my first playthrough - because I didn't have the intel needed to know that they were actually involved in. -- I had to play it several times to finally pick a path that made sense to me (based on my own morals) -- In short -- you WILL get used by the NPCs if you don't read all the intel you can find. - Choices matter... and making one choice WILL cut you off from the alternate path(s). I LOVE this about this game. Far too many developers are more concerned about making sure you see ALL the content that they've eliminated any sense of urgency in a game. These days few quests are actually timed - and there's almost always a pip that points to exactly the boondongle you're supposed to "find"... gone are the days when an adventure / action game had actual adventure and action...

Not sure if it's on the list, but the fact that Earthbound was considered a financial failure blows me away! What an incredible and influential game

Oddworld soulstorm was great, sadly not many people know about this series its a shame that the game hasnt been bought a lot, it has quality graphics. Im kinda worried on what might happen to oddworld inhabitants

Metal Arms Glitch in the System was a great game that never got recognized

For those of you who haven't played Alien Isolation. Do it. It's incredible. By the time you are done with it you will be shocked as to why there isn't a sequel.

Kingdom of Amalur is a great rpg with MMO elements with great combat mechanics. It's a really good game. I absolutely enjoyed it!

This is why gamers are hypocrites and share in the problems in the gaming industry. "I want a new IP, single player, solid gameplay". It gets made then no one buys it. If you want someone else to blame try the communities filthy casuals buying COD and Madden every year. At least we can agree they are problematic if nothing else

okami is one of the greatest games I ever played, and I am gaming on all platforms over 25 years. I still remember 2 page review in local gaming magazine and it got 10/10.
