Here's the thing Valve don't know how to count to 3 .

At the end of this year, Valve is going to straight away put Half life 3, Portal 3, Team fortress 3, and Left 4 Dead 3 on sale in steam. All, at, once. With no trailer or announcement.

For some reason I always have problems with Gamespot videos not playing or playing for a few seconds then pausing. I have no idea why this would be since it's all on youtube but just thought I'd mention it. Every video I've played this evening has worked except 3 Gamespot ones. Does my laptop have some sort of technical prejudice against these fine folks?! ..After waiting 4 minutes this videos finally started playing. Solid review!

There was no way I could beat this game without that smooth jazz.

As much as I miss Portal, the way it made my brain feel, it's cool atmosphere & the love I grew for Glados, I'm not sure Portal 3 would work. As they stand, Portal & P2 are flawless. What's left to achieve? The ONLY way they could make it work, is if they adapted it to natural surrounds like in deserts, Rainforests, if you became miniature, etc. But it can't be about the same girl again. If they make it, it can't be for money.

@MadSkeelz16 Yes, it's still worth it to buy the game now. Valve has been known to make games that last for 10++ years. Since Portal 2 has been out for only 1.5 years, theres no reason NOT to buy it since there are still people playing this game.

@rocketboy334 I recommend it, you'll understand the concept, because they walk you right into the portal gun, while in this game, newbies may be confused. Portal is free on Steam, (or atleast it used to be) so if you can get Portal, you should, if you can't, just get Portal 2.

@Profoundsoup Definetly, not only is it an awesome game but it will help you understand the second one a lot more. First one comes as one of the 5 games in the Orange Box, just in case you didn't know =) Although you might be able to get it from XBLA, not sure

@xXCraig482Xx Yes, the single player part of the game is around twice as long, and the co op is around that same time frame, I personally did not play co op yet.

Isn't it confusing when you make the 2 portals and go through one and pop out the other... Doesn't it confuse you when you go through and you gotta look around to not be confused?... Not sure wether to get this?

@TheDXW250 1. The writing is brilliant, especially for a video game, where successful humor is rare. And I mean it, it's damn funny. 2. The puzzle solving is incredibly satisfying and challenging, yet simple enough for anyone to play it. 3. The whole atmosphere is just awesome, I can't really describe that one, you'd have to play the game for a while to understand that. 4. Co-Op is the definition of brilliant multiplayer. 5. "no action". Uh, play the game and tell me that again. 6. BUY IT.

I love Valve. They might not pump out games left and right, but everything they give us is top-notch and memorable. Can't wait to see this game in person. I feel like I am already that talking basketball's best buddy.

i just bought a xbox 360 and im going to get two games. one of those is mortal kombat 9 and im thinking about getting this one.... i never play the first one ...do you guys still recommend it

@metalheadgazboyle Nope, Valve understood they shouldn't continue that joke. But some people are trying to (Hopelessly) save it with a deer, you'll understand when you get it and play through it.

@PinballCollection I thought the load times were pretty damn short on the console version I played too!! Seemed like only about 5 to 10 seconds between levels.

@ibyOFshieldz Get it.. You'll love it haha. Plus it's not confusing once you get used to it .. I suggest playing the first one first though, storyline will make alot more sense.

@ibyOFshieldz I would recommend playing portal 1 first (for story reasons) and to get the basics of portal. it's very cheap these days. portal 2 is better than portal1 in almost every way but playing portal 2 without playing portal 1 is like watching lord of the rings 2 without seeing 1 (maybe not that extreme) but you get the idea. trust me it sounds confusing first time you hear but once you get the basics it is actually quite easy and enjoyable (anyway they're are always online walkthroughs)

Aperture Science Long Fall Boots, they are awesome and allow you to fall several thousand meters without all that many injuries. In Portal 1 Chell had Aperture Science Advanced Knee Replacements.

@KarmaChameleon033 get portal 1 and 2. it is an incredible experience (it's not the destination that counts, it's the journey) just make shore you have a good pair of speakers as half the experience of portal is in it's writing and audio. the story is important but unless he showed you actual cutscenes than it is still worth experiencing even if you know how it ends.

@Tunerboy8732 You should definitely give it a chance. I just beat the first Portal last night and I'll definitely be picking this one up. It's worth it dude, for the unique gameplay mechanics as well as the dialogue. Try it!

Guys, should i buy this game? i've never played portal 1 and i know nothing about the story/characters. All i know is that we have to go through portals and complete the puzzle. this game really looks awesome, so i' wondering is there a guide for newbies like me during the starting of the game and recap some of the story that was on portal 1? thx!

@jdlw09 Time to debunk your little tirade. 1. Portal (and Portal 2) may "PLAY" better on PC, but each version had its own development team. 2. Portal 1 was released with "The Orange Box" collection of games on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 in 2007. 3. Again, Portal WAS on the PS3 via "The Orange Box". There is no "favorite" version of Portal that gets most of the developer's attention; all versions are worked on equally by different teams. Why is Portal 2 multiplatform? More profitable that way.

@KiloByte69 yeah, I was being sarcastic since games load so fast and not as much as they used to. Take a look at the Neo Geo CD console. The only way to eliminate loading times all together is to go back to cartridges or to load the games right off the HDD.

I'm playing on an outdated PC and the loading times are extremely short. 2 - 10 sec. is not "long". It's so short that I often didn't even would notice if it wasn't for the loading-logo.

@hahahahva I did not rushed at all. I did enjoyed it very much. But the puzzles were not that challenging making me go through them quite fast. I spend a decent amount of time waiting for the characters to say something. It was awesome. But way to short IMO.

@Fultzyy While the game is worth the $60, rent it. You'll finish both modes easily within a week and if you ever want to play again just fork over another $9.99 to rent it, or wait for a sale. But the main point is get this game any way you can and play now, right now.

@wilson2012 If you want a bigger effect on they story telling (not going to spoil the awesome parts), you'll need to play sp. If you just don't care and want to play portal 1, its ok. But I recommend you playing the first one before or after portal 2. :D

@AORMETALGORE I do, cause the engine was very well made. I've said it else where, I think it's great they're evolving the old engine rather then making a new one. This way they keep it very compatible with a wide range of machines and still present an amazing looking game. It's far from looking "shitty".

@Travaillons Well, I'm a senior in college and work as an editor for an academic journal. It's just my opinion.

At the end of the game, (the chapter called "this is the part where he kills you") I laughed sooo hard when i first escaped his "death-trap" and then came back when he told me to. He was like, "Please come back, I promise i won't hurt you" (and so i came back just to see what would happen) then then he went all: "ohh, really.... I didn't think you would fall for that..... Hmmm let's see, well i can't reset the death trap, so would you mind just jumping in the pit-hole over there? (And so i did)

He began by slating one console to which i defended by pointing out it's vast superiority. All you have to do is read both comments. So, not sure what you're gripe is. He bashed something i defended, but we're you're issue comes in i don't know, can't work out what ruffled your feathers.

7 hr single-player story? I remember it taking me probably 15 hours to complete. Too much puzzling I believe to only be 7 hours long...perhaps shorter than 15 hours, though, respectively.
