The music is so great that it forced me to replay the trailer like 5 times. I am not that much into the Imperium, I actually prefer The Empire from Warhammer FB, simply because it is not OP and has no superwarriors, they are in fact very weak and mundane compared to the other races, which makes them much more relatable and their fight against the enemy much more heroic. The Space Marines are so overpowered in lore that I don't feel any emotional desire to see them prevail. But the Mechanicus was the first Warhammer 40k game where I was quite engrossed, simply because of the music and the atmosphere.

"Having a sacred mission from the Imperium" and "having a warrant of trade" are the same thing, just like "bringing planets into the Imperium" and "conquering planets and exploiting them for profits" - one just sounds slightly nobler.

@@cifer1607 They are not the same thing. A Warrant is permission/leeway, not a requirement, not a job, it's the opposite of that if anything. The point of a Warrant is _no one_ gets to tell you what to do anymore, no one can send you anywhere, you go where you choose and do what you want. That's what makes Rogue Trader great, it's total freedom in an otherwise rigidly stifling setting.

@@cory6266 yes of course. Every single Rogue Trader - every last one of them, no exception, all follow the same principles. Not a single one of them is motivated by anything other themselves for any reason ever not even once.

@@cory6266 Before we go on: Have you read the Rogue Trader RPG? Because it contradicts a lot of what you're saying. While Rogue Traders enjoy freedom to a degree almost unimaginable by other Imperials (except perhaps Inquisitors), they are not without obligations. Warrants of Trade are often issued with specific requirements ("For as long as the bearer ensures the supply of Hive World X, they and their descendants shall be allowed to [do general Rogue Trading stuff]") and it is assumed that a Rogue Trader will in very general ways contribute to the glory and wealth of the Imperium (in a "trickle down economics" style where most of the wealth happens to stay with the Trader). A successful Trader lineage accrues additional obligations almost automatically in a web of favors - when a Forge World offers to outfit your fleet, they may ask for regular exploration missions in return. When an Inquisitor discovers that your favorite Astropath sprouts bird feathers and keeps quiet about it, their silence can have a price. As for "bringing planets into the Imperium": Outside of the Imperium's nominal borders, the Rogue Trader speaks with the voice of the Emperor. Whatever they claim, they claim and rule in the name of the Emperor - which just sounds much better than "because I really want it."

​@@cifer1607 I've played and run campaigns in Rogue Trader, so yeah, I'm familiar with it. What you're talking about are exceptions to normal Warrants, not a standard. Also you keep talking about what "sounds better," like they're deliberately misrepresenting the IP because they think their version will sell better.

If you look at the end card you can see and Eldar, so there's that at least. I imagine we'll also be able to recruit a Tau, since every other xenos will just want to murder us on sight (the sentiment is mutual tbf).

The end card has a space wolf, a sister of battle etc. not really regular humans.

They were pretty accurate to the lore and are showing us the best lifestyle or job in the imperium, being a rogue trader. I don't get why it should be a different ip

Pretty sure Rogue Trader was the original WH40k tabletop, before the wargame.

@@Mister_Vyar 1st of the WH40k wargame is called Rogue Trader. But this one is different, there was a tabletop RPG Rogue Trader by FFG. Since the game happens in Koronus expanse I think OwlCat would use it as a base.
