To me, the Commodore 64 versjon will always be a classic. With it's unique scary music, and with the scream that red devil seems to make when you cross it's path. I don't think the graphics are too bad compared to the NES versjon either...

BOOZE & METAL I agree. The music certainly makes the C64 version, but the graphics are just as serviceable. This is the kind of argument you could make in general about games, i.e. technical vs. artistic. The C64 graphics seemed more "alive" to me.

The Gameboy Color version is a hidden gem, and also one of it's best versions, they lowered the dificulty a bit, and while still hard, it's not as brutal as the NES version. They also added passwords which is amazing

I was amused no end by the PSP version. It just sums up modern games compared to 20 years ago! The PSP version feels the need to tell an epic story about the struggle between demons and knights, while the original just gives you "girl kidnapped by devil. SAVE HER!!"

"Every game port looked amazing." Lol the Amiga was home to some of the worst ports of its time. Check out Out Run, Street Fighter II, or Bionic Commando on the Amiga. Great games turned into pure ass by shovelware developers. There were good games on the Amiga, but most of these were games that had been developed for the platform. Most (not all) arcade ports were terrible.

I always thought only the C64 version had different music, but the Amstrad version also has a unique composition. Interesting! Another interesting thing was to see that the DOS version is flick screen instead of a side scroller. I've always loved the flick screen style in games and watching GnG as a flick screen game was fascinating.

The Amstrad version sounds like a fucking awesome remix, the GBC version is WAY too focused closely on Arthur...

I really liked the Atari st graphics they seem to have given it a unique perspective of the arcade game making it look like it but also very different. music wise the Gameboy version really surprised me in a positive way. the ps2 version was an absolute joy to watch but felt a bit slow.

Atari ST Ghosts n Goblins gave me an impression it was a crappy, rushed, shitty job without the developer giving themselves enough time

The PSP version should be available at PSN/Xbox Live, as the GBA version of Super Ghouls'n Ghosts. Both are very good versions and are restrict to very few players.

@Bishamon People get tired of the same thing with TFS on DB vids, I'd say they're worse though, since games also have Game Grumps, Vinesauce and others to refer to.

The MS-DOS version looks like it has flying turkeys for monsters. The Amstrad scrolling just ruins games like this. The C64 version is one of my first loves, from the title screen to the dragon at the end. I was impressed to see the extra levels in the Atari ST and Amiga versions, and much improved graphics, when I first saw them as a kid. The PSP game is quite amazing, as is the Super Nintendo game, though tough as hell to complete.

The PC Speaker may very well be the most basic means of sound generation ever implemented on a computer.
