Robotics Engineer Jeffrey Carlson is back at Gamology, this time reacting to Cyberpunk 2077! Jeffrey's work as an engineer has given him unique insight into possibilities for our world's future, and he's here to give us the low-down on some pretty important questions, like: Would you trust a robot doctor over a human doctor? Would you take an upgrade if it were available? Let us know your own answers in the comments!
The action role-playing video game, Cyberpunk 2077, is set in the near future. In Night City, an open world set in a cyberpunk universe, the action takes place. Assuming the first-person viewpoint of a customizable mercenary named V, players are able to acquire hacking and mechanical skills to go up against other mercenaries.

The concept of cybernetic eyes is crazy to me. Like could a brain be able to receive images while directly connected with a computer. If I knew I could see through cybernetic eyes and have crazy visual upgrades, I'd get at least one eye.

It is a very complete game in my opinion towards coverage, shooting, simultaneous entries, perhaps not so much the recoil of the weapons but there are also many campaigns with different missions and injections of adrenaline, they could take many videos of this, in addition to the fact that the weapons from that game are great

@mikesoria3418
@mikesoria3418 2 жыл бұрын
I gotta be honest, your expectations were the result of your own ignorance. Robotics maybe related to cybernetics but what is showcased may not fall under his area of expertise, it's your misinterpretation that robot = tech that has given you this false expectation. Another is that this is a REACTION, what is he doing? Reacting. If he were to speak of his own expertise I'd see him talk more in-depth about the flathead, but the flathead isn't something new, it's robot dogs have been known for quite the long time now, I doubt you'd be amazed. What you expect him to talk about? The tedious and often mind numbing coding that is done to make it run? or how it maintains balance using what's called a "gyroscope" that was invented in 1852? What "Techniques" are you even spouting? The RipperDocs are doings IMPLANTS, you think a Robotics Engineer is going to do an IMPLANT. They are called RipperDOCS for a reason. There were no techniques shown within the video that even closely resemble what may concern a robotics engineer. If you even notice he implies that the girl that was being saved, Sandra Dorsett, was an android not a human with implants. Lastly I don't know what these guys are doing putting a Robotics Engineer to comment on cybernetics, a whole different subject with different philosophy. You are making someone, whose main concern is to design and build a MULTIPURPOSE AND INTELLIGENT MACHINE (a robot), with a subject that focuses on a COMPLEX SYSTEM THAT IS ABLE TO TRANSLATE BIOLOGICAL IMPLUSES (cybernetics), to which in my opinion, a doctor is more suited.

Just out of interest on the one question you casually posed “would you want a robot or human surgeon”. I actually ended up with a partial robot/human surgery to remove a tumor behind my collarbone, pretty close to the heart, so they needed something extremely precise. I barely have a scar now from the operation because much of the procedure didn’t need to have all the skin pulled back like a human would need to fully see, so I think in some circumstances that’s the sweet balance almost. A very precise robot that’s still monitored and maintained by a human but can get under the skin without having to break open a bigger area that a human would need. I don’t think I’d trust a fully automated surgery though.

Hate to tell him, but there are already implants that can replace body parts. I've got an electronic spinal cord implant that helps my brain to bypass the damaged areas on my spinal cord to I can walk. It feels like I have thousands of little ants crawling under my skin from mid chest to to bottom of my feet, but that's better than having numbness from my waist down and legs that refuse to work properly. I've had it since 2005 and upgraded it in 2017. I'll be upgrading it again 2027 as it has to be replaced every 8-10 yrs.

Them not being familiar isn’t their fault. Gameology quite annoyingly is getting pure uninformed reactions instead of being given context. I think the video that annoyed me the most Cop reacts to Cyberpunk 2077. He went on a whole thing about the idea of arming paramedics because of the early scene showing Trauma Team in action and deduced they were armed paramedics. As opposed to what they really are which is special forces operators with advanced medic training for the wealthy. You still get the basic unarmed regular paramedics if your a poor.

Basically the easiest way to summon cyberpunk 2077 is basically imagine our timeline now and cyberpunk 2077 would be the depending on how you look at it the future case best, or worst case for the human species, but basically the humans with genetic alteration, the genes mechanical augmentation inside biotech And basically mechanical augments for more advanced or what ours nowadays will turn into mixed in with their organic structure, as well as synthetic skin chrome, genetic animal, DNA, and of course, different visual skin and texture mods that can be added or swapped out. Their skin operates normally even with all these add-ons to the original frame for the most part AK, the human body, but they are able to change pieces of flesh and hold on parts, augment their appearance or move and add them even add weapons inside of them sort of like an Omni changing wall different servers wires and miniature arms allow their skin to be content segmented into different parts, allowing for independent movement, but keeping the oval structure

Things are gonna get real wild when we choose to cut out/off perfectly good body parts for the artificial because the artificial is now better than the original. Just like how some that can afford it take plastic surgery way too far, we will take cybernetic implants way too far given the chance.

Have him react to some tech from Cyberpunk. He could maybe give an opinion on those. Nonetheless, seems like an awesome dude

He mentions a possible of divide between those who get implants and those who don’t, I’m thinking that is a major plot point of Deus Ex Mankind Divided.

Cybernetic implants sound like a good idea until you think about the fact that they will need an energy source.

Genuinely interested in what this guy has to say in the future because robotics have always interested me, leaving a dislike just to let you know that the video could've been done better by 1.) giving him more context on what the game was about, 2.) show off what the augments actually do, ie.) enhanced leg jumping, mantis blades arm mod, arm cannon, reflex boost etc.) and 3.) in the process of showing him these things ask him questions about how feasible the mechanics of them would be. I think it'd be interesting how he applies his background in engineering on the hoops you'd have to jump through to get actuators inside an arm or how much mechanical pressure it would require to do the crazy shit the gorilla arms lets you do to people without causing catastrophic failure and having the arm get blown out. Looking forward to more videos with this in the future!

If I could get synth kidneys I can rely on and a new spine, then yeah, i'd upgrade. Purely because it would throw my current medical problems out the window, probably add new problems but meh at least I could do more.

To be honest, he doesn't sound like an expert. This experts lacks the explanation of comparison to the real world technology. Can we actually get an ACTUAL expert who is good at explaining and give this person a context of the game.

Are you expecting a course on robotics? There are some things you just can’t reasonably and efficiently explain to an audience that watches video game reactions for education. It wouldn’t even be a reaction at that point, it would be a lecture

@@SirButtRichardson expecting? My, you must be misunderstood what I'm trying to say here. Usually when these experts react, they would at least try to explain a thing or two with their knowledge like most videos.

Honestly, I think he'd have done a much better job if they gave him some context. Most of the video was him trying to figure out what everything was.
