One of the things I really admire about Gang of Youths is your ability to create an atmosphere that adds emotional weight to the lyrics. There's a lot of music that leaves me cold, but I can't help to be moved by your songs. Keep up the amazing work.

Everybody here getting caught up on the "Ricciardo is racing" line, but did you know "The Rabbits are chasing" refers to the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team, which Dave supports? At the time of writing this song towards the end of 2021 they were on a huge winning streak on the way to meeting the Penrith Panthers in the Grand Final (which they unfortunately lost).

Two years ago I lost my dad very sudden to covid. It all happened over a few hours and me and my brother found him when it was just a couple of hours left. Ofc that changed everything. My life turned upside down, first for the worst... But then things started to change. We weren't that close since I always saw him as my problematic father. But people started writing about him, showing me what he was to other people. This sadness and the darkness of loosing someone I had hoped to some day come closer again just changed. All of a sudden he was alive in my life, through others stories and memories of him. And then this album came and I don't know... Kind of framed it all for me. Both in lyrics and in musicality.. which is funny because I'm more of an instrumentalist than a lyric listener myself. But this album even had me writing my own lyrics. Which hopefully will never be published anywhere else but on my hard drive. They aren't for anyone else to read, but just the fact that I, only by listening to this album, stayed up all night and wrote two "songs" without hesitation and it all just came like water from the tap is... Something special. I should probably try to find something else to listen to... Just for a change... But you know.. just one more time first! And every time I end the album, after listening I just can't help but put the A side on, and put the needle back. And when I leave home I'll put in on Spotify where I ended it at home. I'm sorry, I don't often get this deep, but since you shared this lovely, amazing and fantastic album for us, I just wanted to share back to you how much it means to me in the period of my life I'm in right now. I have a few albums from my childhood, always connected to my father in one way or another, when he was alive. This is the first album in more than fifteen years that has such an impact on me again and it's connected to my dad again, unfortunately not alive. But I'd he would be, I'd walk over to my old man, put this record on and we'd share a very dear moment together. Thank you gang of youths. For framing my life right now. (Just one more)

This is one of the most uplifting songs i've ever heard. "Say Yes To Life" saved my life when everything was wrong. This one makes me keep going strong, always trying to be pride of the overground. Thank you guys, for real

Loved the way hand of god transitioned into this. When I listen to both of them I feel like I'm finally letting go. Like I've finally reached the peak of a mountain I've been climbing for a while.

This album is incredibly beautiful, there’s not a boring part and I was smiling the whole time listening to it I can’t wait until March, the concert can’t come quick enough And now, time to have the album playing on repeat

I'm not sure if this was intended, or anyone else picked up on this, but to me this song is such a melancholy, mature, settled, and hopeful version of Say Yes to Life. So many call backs to it. It's almost like future Dave patting past Dave on the back, saying "yes - you were right, buddy. And look what else we learnt along the way..." Callbacks throughout the album to the 3rd of June also felt so poignant. What a privilege to learn how Dave's perspective of 'life' has evolved as he has. Maybe I am finding something in nothing, but I suppose a sign of great art is an ability to facilitate many unique transferrals of meaning. Allowing many individuals to form a personal attachment and sense of mutual understanding. Thank you, Gang of Youths, for writing music that makes me feel less alone. It reminds me that life can be, and is, beautiful. I'm going to be such a mess when I see you play a more perfect union in Queensland later this year.
