How do you clean YOUR garage floor? ... or do you..?

Check out my channel for the full episode and similar videos. I should probably just let the condescending comments run for the sake of the algorithm, but... lol guys, this is to clean up oil, grease, brake dust, and other various residue/chemicals for people using it as a workshop... If all you have are leaves and dirt, then yeah, you don't have to do this.

My garage floor gets cleaned every spring the same way. The pressure washer floor attachment was worth every penny.

No HARSH chemicals, you gotta learn to listen. It's biodegradable and safe for plants... Granted, I guess "harsh" is subjective.

Personally I just use as mixture of the following: 1/2 cup baking soda , 1/8 cup Abode dishwashing liquid, 1 cup hydrogen peroxide 3.5 Litres of water, 1 teaspoon of Clove Bud Essential Oil.

Yes, I think they'll only last 150 years now instead of 200. It's not like they're powder coated or anything...

Some people do deep cleaning on the flooring. But unless you do projects or work on things in there a deep clean isn’t really needed.

Too much work! Put down a garage floor epoxy and mop like a regular floor once or twice a year. 15 minutes each time. Did this to all my garages for all home I been in.

This is Grear if you have a raised thickened edge that your walls are built on but do not use this method if you garage is built on slab and the wall plate is directly in tbe slab. It will just take on water and ruin your drywall with that much saturation

Take a broom and sweep mine out a few times a year... no reason to scrub it like this
@joshuaychung4 ай бұрын
Depending on where you live, I guess. I live in the Chicago area where we can a lot of salt that gets tracked into the garage during the winter. It's a must that you clean the garage floor with some chemical and scrub to get all the salt out.

@@joshuaychung I'm 3 hours over in fort wayne and know of no one who scrubs their garage floor... sweep it out and thats it

you must not know anybody who works on their own cars in their garage frequently (insert here how you've been working on your own cars for 58 years)
@cruzzindodge4 ай бұрын
Not 58 years... but yes have always worked on my own vehicles. My thumbnail pic is my 72 challenger rallye just one of the few non daily vehicles I have so yeah 🤷♂️

So you'd know that oil, grease, brake dust, tire marks aren't easy to sweep off, and it's not always preventable when you're pulling out engines. If anybody wants to roll around in that stuff, it's a free country. I just don't like my shirts getting black when I'm on my back working on a car. To say that there's NO reason to clean like this is bit presumptuous coming from a fellow car guy, no?
@josephpoley48053 ай бұрын
Why? If you don’t use your garage for dirty jobs, painting, etc I suppose this is ok.
@chipburns41234 ай бұрын
Seal it and add some true grit for anti-slip.
@MasterOfNoneMechanic4 ай бұрын
Given how much time I spend rolling around on the floor working on cars, adding grit doesn't sound too pleasant...

@@MasterOfNoneMechanic its just pulverized plastic. Its not noticeable unless you have a slippery driveway and compare. You need to be sealing your chimney or whatever brick you have outside anyway!

@@debracampbell3273 Oh I'm sorry about that - here you go amzn.to/3TbAsRi If you don't need it in a hurry, I'd just add it to the wish list and watch for a sale, think it happens pretty frequently. I just provided a generic link because which one you should get depends on the pressure rating of the pressure washer you're using. If you have a gas powered pressure washer, I think you should go for a bigger attachment. I just have a small electric pressure washer, so that one worked for me. The one that I linked has a max pressure rating of 2000 PSI, so check before you buy.

@@jacoboliver1006 I can respect that opinion - But it's the same kind of sentiment as "don't trust a skinny cook". That's just a stereotype. Some of us actually take the time to organize, clean our tools and workspace for a variety of reasons other than appearances (e.g. bodywork/painting, health & safety, longevity of tools, discipline, making sure our SO's don't hate our hobbies more than they already do, etc.)
