Way back in 2018 I started the Garage Gym Competition and had no idea it would quickly become the BIGGEST and BADDEST Virtual Powerlifting Event. When others showed up during COVID, and then disappeared, we stayed strong.
The Garage Gym Competition is for those that choose to lift at home, in pursuit of bigger totals, stronger muscles, and an escape from the world around us.
This is my Spring 2024 Submission, and I decided to do something a little different. I wanted to play with all my new production tools, experiment with editing tricks, and work on my storytelling abilities.
My goal was to give a glimpse into what my brain does during the Big 3 Lifts - Squat, Bench, and Deadlift… the music, the vibe, the transitions, the lighting…
While it might not have been the best idea to film a cinematic montage while chasing down three PRs in the same week, it gave me an interesting challenge and a fun way to flex my recently acquired skills.
This was the first prep I used JuggernautAI for, and it went MOSTLY well.
Squats were great the entire program and prep, knee pain has been in check, and these new Pioneer Knee Sleeves are MONSTERS.
Bench I did what I always do and started overthinking things but luckily managed to pull my you know what out of my you know what for the day that mattered. If I can string together an entire prep of keeping focused and not overthinking things, I might see 405lb in my future.
Deadlifts were off most of the prep. In the past I’ve Deadlifted once a week and ALSO done weighted carries on Fridays. Not having that weighted carry dropped my volume significantly for deads, which I think hurt me here a bit. I also got greedy… I rocked that 590lb pull, and jumped to 632lb for a 2lb PR attempt. I should have gone for 615lb, and then 635lb… oh well. I live to lift another day.
If you are interested in the Garage Gym Competition, it is totally free, tons of prizes up for grabs, kids to grandparents are welcome, and we donate money for every person who lifts to a Non-Profit!
The Spring event runs from May 11th to the 19th, and we have a Fall Event coming in October.

Yeah it probably wasn't the best idea to try and flex on both ends at the same time, but it was fun for sure

630lb is my best, I jumped from 590 to 632, and should have had another lift in between at like 610... Oh well

Thanks dude. Gotta get Deads rolling again, they've stalled since last Spring, but hard to argue with two PRs and a total PR

@GrayMatterLifting

I got the Combo at a buddies house so he could start his garage gym. The deal was, if I host a meet at my place, he's gotta bring it back to me. Once I finish a few projects in the garage in the next month, I'll be ready to host in the Fall.

Sweet lifts. Looked like you had more in you for DL. Ah, no Minion suit to help you this time. That explains it.

Ha! Save the costume for the Halloween lifts in the Fall. Yeah I hit 590, and went for 632 for a small PR. Should have jumped to 610 first. 632 was too big a jump.

I’m impressed that you were able to wear your knee sleeves that whole time. I have to immediately take them off after every set. Way too painful to keep them on for any length of time

I squatted Monday, and I still have marks on the back of my legs/knees today... So I definitely paid for it. But if I try and put these bad boys on at the end of my workout, it ain't happening lol

@@GrayMatterLifting try knee high socks. That’s how I can get them up with sweaty legs. You’ve gotta remember to lower your socks on meet day tho, can’t have socks and sleeves touch.

Nice lifts! What bar did you use? Looked like there wasn’t a center knurl for your PR squat - impressive!
@GrayMatterLifting
@GrayMatterLifting 2 ай бұрын
Ivanko OB84. Old school power bar. No center knurl... I never found I needed it, since I high bar squat.
