2 weeks ago we installed massive 38 inch Milestar Tires on Rocktrix rims on our STOCK Suspension Jeep TJ! • Our Jeep Computer DIED... . We showed the absolute largest size tire that fits on a stock height jeep tj, literally pushing the wheel well to its limit!
On Today's episode, we show you, step by step, how we installed our 4 inch dual rate SkyJacker Lift kit with M95 shocks completely in our garage with tools that are affordable. Our goal was to make a video to help walk you through the entire install process, as well as show you the order of how we installed each part, giving you the confidence to attempt the job yourself.

You guys have a sweet TJ! I’m not here to bash on it but to provide some insight and advice to a fellow Jeeper. Some problems I can see that you guys may want to check into include: 1) Flex out the suspension and see what hits. Looks like you don’t have enough of a bump-stop for the tire size (especially for the rear). 2) The rear shocks are going to hit the spring perches when they’re fully compressed. Common TJ problem especially when adding a lift. You can get the shock relocation brackets for less then $50. 3) The skyjacker is a budget lift and a problem it doesn’t fix is the suspension geometry that results from raising the the frame away from the axle. As you go up in lift your wheelbase gets shorter. The skyjacker arms doesn’t correct this since they are the factory length. 4) For the future consider getting a set of adjustable control arms. This will really help set up better pinion angles and get your caster back into a factory spec. 5) Also when flexing out the Jeep check the length of brake lines. I didn’t see you guys swap them out within the video. Hope this helps and good luck on the build!!
@Garagecouple

Appreciate this very much! We will test out some of these and try to fix them if they need fixing. We have a set of adjustable uppers ready to go on. The skyjacker arms were a bit longer than the factory arms, we didn't realize it until after we made the video. Cheers

what's your opinion on the rought country 4 inch long arm lift. looking for something around this price range (1000-1800), this video was posted 3 years ago. I see some kits have added stuff.

This is my 1st time tuning in & I'll keep it 100%...I saw Skyjacker, pavement princess wheels and yet another Jeep with them dang Patagonias and I was quick to pass judgment & dismiss it as another mall crawler build channel & was gonna keep it moving...not that there's anything wrong with all that, just not my cup of tea but y'all charisma & chemistry stopped me from moving on. Then I skimmed through the rest of your content and realized it isn't what I'd initially thought. Seems like y'all have ran the Jeep Life gamut & I almost passed judgement based on perception. Good stuff, keep up the good work.

Man that looks awesome. I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ sport in the same color. Right now it only has a 2 inch lift and 31s. I'm trying to find some rubicon axles (4:10) so I can add a 4 inch lift to it eventually and 33s or 35s. It will be going to college part 2 (masters) with me. This Jeep really is special because my parents have owned it every since I was born. They actually brought me home from the hospital in it, so it is crazy to think that I'm driving it. It's also pretty cool that you are a school teacher. My mom is an 8th grade math teacher and my dad is a 9th grade history teacher. I currently am a math tutor at my mom's school for 7th and 8th grade. Previously, I worked at my undergrad university as an Organic Chemistry, Chem 111, 112 and an Oceanography lab TA. Now, I have a teaching assistantship at my next university where I am getting my MS in Biology. I really hope I can find those upgraded axles before I leave for graduate school though. The Jeep currently has 3:07 gears and they suck. This university is wayyy up in the mountains and the elevation difference results in a large power difference than where I currently live.

Yeah, fortunately the dual rate springs keep things nice and stiff. We are planning on taking it to a fabricator and cutting the rear tub. Either that or a body lift. If we do a body lift it won't clear the garage lol!
@ItsMojoHQGaming
@ItsMojoHQGaming 4 жыл бұрын
@@Garagecouple metalcloak makes a mod cut mounting plate for your exact problem. All you need after you buy it is a grinder or dremel to cut away the tub, you shouldn't need to pay anyone for any fab work. However, I understand not wanting to cut up your car if you don't have experience. It would be a pain to mess it up.

What are your thoughts on Body lifts to add more clearance for bigger tires, at present I’m running a 3-1/2” RE Lift w/33’s, would like to run 36’s in near future, I will be changing the gears to 4:88 and add chromoly axles also...

Bet you'd have won the bet if you removed the control arm! Mine was a different manufacturer, but that's how their instructions ran and I didn't have to use a spring compressor. 😁

@@Garagecouple it was actually VERY easy to align without the tires and weight on it. I could move the axle anywhere I needed it. Just did one side at a time.

Sweet. That Jeep looks just plain awesome now with that lift and the 38's. You're gonna need a step ladder now to work in the engine bay now. Lol. Keep up these great videos coming. since it looks so beefy now are you going to put a good sounding exhaust on it too. I know they straight sixes sound pretty good with a mean exhaust.

That is the stock bump stock....it comes that way from Jeep. You were supposed to take that bolt out, add that spacer and reinstall a longer bolt. If you don’t have enough bumpstop your tires may rub.
@Garagecouple
@Garagecouple 4 жыл бұрын
Our green tj doesn't have that bumpstop actually! If we added the extender on top of that extension it would be nearly touching with no flex

I’m just trying to help you so you aren’t spreading misinformation. Also, you are calling the washer on the front control arms a Cam. Most TJs didn’t come with cams from the factory, they came with washers like yours. The slots and horse shoes are there so cams can be added at a later time if needed
@Garagecouple
@Garagecouple 4 жыл бұрын
Always appreciate the info! Our bump stop on our 2001 doesn't look like that! We assumed all the tjs were the same. As for the cam bolt, much appreciated!

Garage Couple no problem, that’s the way it is on my 2000 and my 2005 that are sitting in the driveway right now. Are you sure someone didn’t modify your 2001? Possibly a shop that did the lift on that Jeep ?

My son (15) saw this and now Im doing my `99 Sahara just like it for him. Going with a Currie lift but exact rims, tires, metalcloak (ordered), and front bumper. Way cool! Any tire rubbing at all? My son doesnt wheel so itll be a mall crawler.

Break the bolts and nuts loose with hand tools then just use your screw gun to take them off. It’s a lot faster and a lot less straining

Finally finished watching. That thing looks MEAN. Are you going to do rocker guards at all? I am not that tall and have a difficult time getting in mine, so I had some tube rockers built, and then I built a cheap step that basically slides over the rockers. That said, looking forward to more!

27:35 Is that sway bar link backward? Also, with the trackbar/drop pitman arm - you want both the drag link and trackbar to be parallel. I think that by moving the trackbar over, you may need the drop pitman arm to achieve that.
