I have had a BG86 since 2018, and I have had to play with the carburetor to get it to run after 6 years. Prior to this year, I had absolutely zero issues other than an occasional spark arrestor clean. I say it is a pretty reliable machine, but my dad got annoyed with it and said he hasn’t had good luck with it. I say they are decent machines overall.

I just have the little BG-50 but it still cranks up pretty easily. I've found I use it just about year round. Blowing lawn clippings off the porch and back deck (from side discharge mower), blowing leaves away from the house in the fall so that I can mulch them up with the mower and in winter I use it to clean snow off of our vehicles and porch/back deck as the Ariens Sno-Thro is too heavy to get up those, LOL!

This vid reminded me to check spark arrest and air filter. Ya.. I let it lapse 😮 Was running fine (so I thought). Removed spark arrest, half blocked.. burnt the little bugger and then cleaned my air filter. World of difference!! Starts first or second pull, power is like it was new. I guess over time, I didn’t notice power drop. I’m surrounded by massive white pine trees, these things bleed pine needle fall and spring. Raking is backbreaking… but with my Stihl BG…. No issues blowing these suckers away! Thanks JB!

I had a stihl gas blower and I sold it to try an ego 650 electric. I really miss that stihl blower and I'm thinking about going back to gas. It was perfectly balanced and it had more power than the ego unless you had the ego in turbo mode. I used that stihl blower for over 10 years and it didn't miss a beat and ran good when I sold it.

Where can we get ethanol free fuel? Thats a nice machine. I have a Poulan Pro BVM200FE. It converts to a vacuum which is great for getting leaves out of all the nooks and crannies of my yard. Mulches them as it sucks. I beat it up up pretty good and its given me years of mostly trouble free operation. My biggest issue is its hard to start after its been running awhile. Any ideas what that might be? Its done that since new.
