I received my 375lb set of The Strength Co plates this week. I would say that they’re perfect. They have a very light texture to them that will help with gripping the plate. The finish on them is like nothing I’ve seen before. I like that the back is not milled. Amazing USA made product. I decided to purchase their Olympic and Power bar after seeing the quality of the plates. Great Company!

@@maggiekay7426 I have a Rogue Ohio power bar, Texas power bar and Strength co power bar. I use each one for separate lifts but my favorite is the Strength co bar. It has deeper knurling and the plates sit around 3/4” closer to the bar which makes lifting feel more stable to me. But I also think the sharp knurling will turn a lot of people off so I’d recommend the Rogue Ohio Power bar for most people.

Gotta drop some Kabuki love here... I love my Kabuki plates, and they were the best value for me (I only live about 5 miles away and was able to pick them up in person, and not have to pay shipping). Milling is cool and all, but I appreciate the raw aesthetic of the plain forged plates. Plus, they deserve at least 5 knurl marks in my book just for being made out of recycled artillery shells... that's badass!

Coop, I love your content, but I wish you would do more reviews on budget-friendly equipment. I feel like few of us are even buying plates brand-new. I would love to see you review things like powertec multi press, titan plate loaded lat pulldown, budget-friendly leg machines or things like that which would cater to someone who just wants to lift heavy and train hard at home but doesn’t have a huge amount of disposable income. Not multi-thousand-dollar fly wheels and Tonals. Thanks for all you do Coop, hope you take this into consideration.

45 lbs is 45 lbs, with or without any + or - 2% warning. Usually, and especially during the Covid period, availability, selling price, and shipping are what my simple home gym looks at more than brand name appeal. Used to be a steady Titan customer, but recently scored eight 2 1/2lb plates (my youngest son uses them to load a bar for speedy-change breakdown sets) from Rogue, and 2 pair of 45s from Vulcan, all while Titan was out of stock on every size. Shipping wasn't too bad for my small Rogue 20lb order, and I live pretty close to Vulcan, so UPS charges were minimal on the 45s. It pays to look around ......

@@jordanbomb32 I hear ya, and half agree. I don't think quality matters much on cast iron plates, as long as they're available for fast shipping turn-around. Titan has pissed me off plenty on items I bought on back order as I watched the "expected shipping date" keep getting moved back until finally their site said "Out of Stock." Allegedly, my item will now ship around 02/20 after my order on 12/30 ... allegedly. (original estimate was late January) My half-serious guess is that the Chinese who supply many similar companies just like the other companies more than they do Titan.

Overall, solid review. Having both the Rogue DD (45s & 25s) and the entire StrengthCo collection, I find your review fair and accurate. The only thing I will argue with is the matching of the back of Rogue. I first considered it an advantage because it’s perfect and beautiful. However, after months of use of both plates, I now consider StrengthCo not machining the backs as an advantage toward long term durability and aesthetics. The backs of StrengthCo are exceptionally durable as a result while the Rogue scratch very easily

The Strength Co's are great also they have a good feel and look great to me. I think it is a toss up between the two but I would go with the Strength Co plates because I like supporting a person that just saw a need and filled it with USA made products.

Probably because in this whole 20+ minute video he didn't even put them on an actual barbell to do the main lifts, which IMO are most important lifts to do when figuring out which plates you like best. I have both the Rogue Deep Dish and Strength Co. plates. Not only does Strength Co. offer a complete assortment of the sizes of plates (2.5 - 100), the Rogue 25s are not easy to handle given their is no deep dish feature on them. In fact, the Rogue 25s have slipped out of my hand due to the almost non-existent lip for gripping it. I like the fit of the Strength Co. plates on my bar better than Rogue, which has a little play in it. Agree the finish on the Rogue's are as good as it gets, but the Strength Co. finish is about as good. For me, the Strength Co. plates are a clear winner over Rogue given the fit on the bar and complete range of plate sizes. Yes, Rogue is less expensive, but neither are inexpensive and are an investment, so the Strength Co.represents a better value to me.

I just love 45’s with grip handles/ grip holes near the rim. So great even for loaded carries. Also, my wife who’s average strength would have trouble helping me load those plates without holes- harder to pick up off the ground if laying flat and gotta make sure grip is really secure when sliding them off a weight tree or else might slide out of hands and necessitate a visit to the Podiatrist.

Tight fit is the most important feature for me, and I didn't hear that mentioned. I bought Rogue hundos last week, but I have my eye on Strength Co in the near distant future after I sell some of my bumpers and cheap Standard 45s. Maybe a fringe view, but I wish for heavier plates. Strength Co joked about 55s (because "fahves"), but that would honestly be a sweet spot for me. One or two pairs of hundos, two or three pairs of 45s, and eight or nine pairs of 55s would be my own personal Valhalla. For change I have the Titan Fitness color bumpers, including urethane 25s and 35s, which is super nice for cutting down on noise and looks just fine over iron.

Gotta go with whichever one chips the least and is the easiest to handle. IMO, they are all easy on the eyes; I love the matte finish on the Kabuki plate, I used to hate the look of Strength Co's plate before learning to love it, and I definitely don't hate Rogue's plate. Great review as always. I think that this video help convince me to go with The Strength Co. plates. I love the Rogue plates but even 2 years after this video has come out their change plates are still not available. On the website it says that they are out of stock but in reality, you cannot find them anywhere. Meanwhile, The Strength Co has come out with 100lbs and 1.25lbs plates to add to their set. Honestly that is the big selling point for me. I can't stand not having a complete set. Also, I believe that not having a machined back is a good thing. It makes wear and tear less noticeable.

Being nitpicky but I feel the accuracy category is a bit unfair if only because you had the luxury of assessing Rouge's accuracy in a way you couldnt with StrengthCo or Kabuki. Not that any reasonable person would expect you to have multiple sets of each plates but I dont think it should factor in your decision when its not a variable you were able to control. Maybe give Kabuki a point since they were technically the most accurate in that test. But follow up with an asterisk noting that you've have enough sets of the Rouge plages to certify its accuracy? But either way, it still wouldnt change the score and it was still a great honest assessment :D

Shipping is variable depending on your location, Kabuki is the farthest away so naturally they would be the most expensive.

Thickness matters at some point, I'm strong enough that I can lift more than a bar full of echo bumpers, but reality is that you can get 675lb on the bar with the Rogue Deep Dish. More than most can lift - but yeah, thinner is better usually.

Have to give it to strength co... Rogue doesn’t make plates below 25 so if I went with deep dish I’d have to get strength co plates to make a full set anyways. Kabuki seem lower quality and the price point doesn’t fit the product.

Hey Man I'm not much of a beggar but its worth a shot. I have been watching you for a while now and I think your an amazing example of where I wanna be or how I wanna be when I am older. Now I'm not sure If I could ever look as good as you but I will for sure try! But the reason for this comment is because I am currently moving and the problem with that is I won't have access to any gym equipment except my one dumbbell someone gave me lol but I have been trying to get a small gym in shed in the backyard of my small house I soon will be moving into but I don't have much money to spare, I don't even have a job(I'm 14 years old) So you might be wondering how can I help and the way I believe you can is to send me superrrrrr basic gym equipment what I am looking for is a simple rack just so I can do bench presses and squats safely and a barbell to complete those moves. I KNOW this is a weird thing to ask but obviously my parents are not gonna understand the goals I have in life and well... you do( so I believe.) And this is probably the most desperate thing I have ever done in my life and I am doing this because just maybe you will hear me out.... look you are just amazing I know you are not the most famous youtuber but if you had as many subscribers as how many times I wish to have a small gym I think you be the most famous youtuber in the world. Just to help you understand my position I will give you a little scenario you know as a parent its probably one of your main goal to make sure your child has the best life and is just not wasting it on other things but since you workout I'm sure your kid will have no problem at all with achieving his goals but my parents would never understand....... so just to cut it short I'm a big fan of your work and I hope you could here me out, if you wanna contact me about the items which are a (Rack, Barbell, weight plates, Adjustable dumbbells) which I only need a little weight. please contact me at this email: Jacobgillperez@protonmail.com And I hope the best for you ! Bye!

Seriously though for most people just buy whatever is cheap at a local store. They're steel plates, it doesn't really matter which one you buy. And buying from a store means not paying for shipping. Even during the pandemic plates are cheaper locally than online

I've been through a decent number of the cheaper plates out there and there are some I just don't like for certain lifts. Fitment can matter, when you have a couple hundred lbs rattling around at every step it just gets old. My oly plates today are all the standard brand Chinese plates and I have the better ones at the front of the stack so the bar isn't flopping around or rolling all over the black during deads and the plates aren't wobbling everywhere. The worst for that were the Golds grip plates with the beveled center holes, they had to be clamped down every time or they would wobble right off the bar! Of course, in the current environment I wish I had held on to even the junk plates! Either to sell them at stupid prices now or just to have them for the strongman stuff I have been doing.

I would say Troy Barbell and fitness has a 355lb plate set that sells for $520 with free shipping, manufacturer appears to be USA Sports, INC. would say at that price point we should start considering these options, as I have to scoff at paying 2$/lb, though i will say they do look nice its a tough sell for me even though I can afford it.

Very few people are gonna do any reasonable lift with 6 plates a side. I don’t think width means all that much. Also, I think very few people are gonna have a notice whip on their squat, and damn near no one on their squat.
