A few weeks ago I finally got the opportunity to go back to New York. When I last went in 2019 I did not do a ton of filming. And since then a lot has changed. A lot of the old trucks are starting to disappear but the big thing is the new carting rule. Unfortunately I was only able to get a small amount of carts being picked up by private carters but I am still happy I was able to see it happen. This video includes all the trucks you would see when staying in New York, those being, DSNY, Private Carters, and Demolition Carters. These videos were taken all through out the day and night. Times will be listed with trucks. Enjoy!
0:01 First we start on a Sunday afternoon with the iconic NYC truck, a DSNY truck, this one being a LR McNeilus. This was found cleaning up a side street in midtown after a parade.
1:02 After dark a storm of private carters take to the streets collecting the city’s commercial waste. One of those carters being Metropolitan Recycling (seen here) collecting a bag pile in midtown with a 320 McNeilus.
2:50 On Monday I was walking down to the east river when stumbled upon one of the many demo trucks that run in NYC. Most demo trucks are new Mack Granites paired with a Leach 2Rlll seen here or a LM-425.
3:52 Here we have a Cardella Kenworth paired with a 2Rlll tackling finical district demo.
4:41 After leaving the financial district as I was walking back up to midtown I was met with this roaring LEU McNeilus from DSNY throwing litter bins. Really happy I was able to get a LEU still with DSNY. Litter bins are extremely easy to film because they get emptied four times throughout the day.
5:08 Back in midtown is the best demolition combo. A Mack Granite paired with a huge Loadmaster LM-425. This was incredible to film because of the shear size of the truck.
5:48 Here we have my favorite find of the trip. A beautiful Royal Waste Mack MRU Leach 2Rlll right outside Times Square. The crew’s method of getting cardboard bales into the truck was pretty unique and fun to watch.
7:20 Ex DSNY LEU McNeilus from GEGA running on call late night demo. Was pretty cool to see demo being done at night. And the truck was pretty nice.
8:22 Classic Recycling Peterbilt 2Rlll on a bagged/carted stop. Most businesses underestimate how many carts they need as seen here and they just end up still having a bag pile just with a cart next to it.
9:05 The last truck of the trip! An Ex DSNY ALBA LEU Heil packing a H-VAC until in the upper east side. Saw ALBA trucks driving around a ton while I was in NYC so it was really nice to film one.
