Full sun in Texas is much different from full sun in most other states. I really wish growers would use a heat zone on the tags as well as the cold zone.

It's the same here in New Mexico. Shade is different here too.

On the sunshine ligustrum, the more shade it gats the greener it stays like a lime green, which I prefer. The more sun it gets, the yellower it becomes. I’ve found.

Such great information. I live in Sweet Home Alabama and I have a ridge probably 100-150 feet long and 10 feet high down to 1 foot high from my garage around to the back of my house. Clay and sun. I learn so much from your channel. Thanks

Hi Jim, loving all the information! Could you do a video about dog-friendly evergreen plants (I'm in 7b) that can withstand full afternoon-evening sun and a german shepherd, please? :) *editing to add* I just watched your video about losing out on a lot of bloom by choosing only evergreen perennials. I don't know why, but I wanted to justify my reasoning haha I have one dog that has a history of seizures, so gotta watch what goes in around her. And another dog that's allergic to bees, so I can't really have a lot of flowering/bee-attracting plants around her area. The area I'm specifically talking about is a fenced part of my yard that we just call "the dog yard" because of the very specific things that have to be done there (potty areas, lots of gravel/mulch for mud-prone areas, a dog "septic tank", and of course tons of dog toys). I also want this area to be my escape from the winter blues - the spot that always has color.

My son has seizures. He can't have watermelon. Plants that help are ginger, banana (potassium) & the scent of roses & garlic. Whichever you prefer. We're going with the roses. 🌹 He can't eat wheat barley or rye & he can't eat anything artificial sweeteners or colors or preservatives. (excitotoxins) Olive oil Coconut oil Butter Turkey Organic Veggies, especially those with Calcium. Dark leafy greens ETC Anti inflammatory diet No processed flour or refined sugar. WHEW. Hope there's something to help that is dog friendly Minerals & oils & remove stressors

Hey Jim, I have a row of Japanese Boxwoods. 3 of them at the corner connecting are almost stunted and are not growing much but are not dying. Do you have a cornerstone bush I could replace them with that will connect well with them... The other Boxwoods are taking off year two. Thanks

Hi jim, i have a problem area. I need foundation planting for the east side, full sun. But, on that side, it is a full two stories, but the only window is a small bathroom window on the top floor. Also, this area is where my septic system is. To make it even more challenging, i have a bad deer problem. So, i need height, full sun, deer resistant, and septic safe. I have a magnolia and 2 young flowering quince on one corner, but dont know what to put in the rest. Would like a small tree to balance iut the magnolia, but not sure what would be safe. Any ideas aside from the lorapetalum, which i will definitely be on the lookout for? I am in zone 8 in the pacific northwest, so get rainy fall and spring, but very dry summers. Also, this area is on a slope, so good drainage.

Would you say these (in general) are good plants for northern exposure foundations? Winter shade and Summer sun? Stays a little more wet because of the Winter shade.

I have a metal roof on my house with no gutters so every time it rains it’s flooded in my front and back garden beds… I was hoping U could recommend some evergreens that I could plant that will be happy in 7b heavy clay … currently I have sunshine ligustrum and little lime hydrangeas (they get flattened must move) and some azaleas … thanks so much

Hate, hate Carissa Holly only good for parking lots. Foliage changes into prickly portions of the hedge. Hard as heck to dig up, the roots are impossible to get dug up for seasons to come.
