My plan is to remove some fake grass, stones & a patio to replace with a beautiful lawn. I definitely didn't anticipate finding this hidden below the surface...!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Mr. D, you now have given yourself the ultimate first timers gardening challenge, and what a beauty it is. Trust me, I'm sure we've all been in that situation before. The carcass of the pool needs to be removed, lots of hard graft involved but when the end is near, you shall be worthy of what came before. The gravel that has been used to overfill the pond will be used as your basethen filled over with a ton or two, depending on depth and area, of top quality topsoil. Make sure you've got a level field and then soak the whole lot so that it can bed in. Few days later, good raking and sow your grass seeds or top lawn. Good luck on this venture because gardening is hard work, but very rewarding.

As a qualified green keeper your best bet is to take up the old pond membrane nd level nd start a fresh depending on budget but you can recover it wirh stones nd gravel etc as a base level then top soil it

Put the chippings back then put topsoil on it then grass seeds wet it first before the seeds then seeds then topsoil it will work . Don't forget on Sunday the transport show is on at the island 10am till 4 pm.keep up with the vlogs 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Awww bless you that looks very much hard work and doing all by yourself Well Done so far but I would recommend on removing the whole section as for piece of mind as I’m not expert but would rather be safe than sorry may get a sink hole . But you are working very hard . Dont overdo it please

Take it out because it will continue getting water logged especially if you are going to grass it.. Get some topsoil from Market place. There is always someone giving lots away on there.. Good job done Mr D so far.. Its not easy work
