After having toured this garden at the Grand Garden Show, it is lovely to have the 'official' tour by the both of you. Annuals give you your vibrant colors. For the most part, perennials bloom for a short period of time, whereas annuals generally last an entire season. I have both. Lovely gardens, beautiful home. In my dreams.

You look so fresh and happy, no one would guess you spent 24 hours stuck at the airport. The Grand Garden Show is amazing! We just got home last night. Michigan is beautiful and Mackinac is magical.

I live in Pennsylvania and I was just on the island (I'm a native :) great lakes girl) back in July and was walking around to look at all the cottages and their gardens. I like how the beds are a mixture of annuals and not completely formal but at the same time the same plants are utilized in other areas making it all work together cohesively! Thanks Laura! Love the Lilac Cottage Garden, more ideas for my yard. I've already made a change in my front and removed the bleeding heart and replaced them with bergenia. So the beds are now little lime and limelight hydrangeas with midnight rose coral bells and last layer back to green with the bergenia. I think I the bergenia will be sturdier since this is the north side of the house. Adding a fairy garden house among some of my rocks.

A step back in time. I’m not one for hanging laundry outside but they did a great job with the white shirt and tea towels. Charming accent. Thanks for sharing.

When I hear you people and a see all the wonderful gardens I can't help but wonder what excellent doctors you'd all make because everything blends together so perfectly. I don't have a personal doctor because when I was young a dentist stuck a needle in my mouth and it came out my nose. I guess we missed a payment or something.

I just looked this up out of curiosity because I’ve never heard of this place before. Enjoy! Described as the best kept secret in all of USA! Mackinac Island sits in Lake Huron, between Michigan’s Upper and Lower peninsulas. Mackinac Island State Park, with trails, woods and the limestone Arch Rock formation, covers most of the island. Founded in 1780, Fort Mackinac is a walled cluster of military buildings on a coastal bluff. The Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum has local works, including Native American art, maps and 19th-century photos.
