Even if left outside as a outdoor plant its better to plant mint in a pot because its so invasive.👍

And with a decent grow light or very bright window, basil grows well too! You can get a pot from the supermarket and split up the plants into many smaller pots, or if you already have some potting things get yourself a packet of basil seeds. You get hundreds in a package and just a sprinkle on a small pot in a bright window will give you a nice bunch of small plants! They won't be big and bushy unless you've got a grow light, but you'll still get fresh leaves off them!

I planted cilantro this winter. Under my succulent garden grow lights they save me a lot of trouble and expense because store bunches get slimy mushy very quickly in the fridge and I'm always needing just a few snips for my recipes without always running to the store and then throwing most of it out.

@@thefelixfam 6in pot; poke 5-6 holes evenly spaced, drop 2-3 seeds in each 1/4" deep hole and cover. Fluorescent 6500k grow lights will provide steady 70°F heat year around for rapid germination and growing conditions. Lights need to be a constant 4-6 inches from top of plants so they don't get leggy. Leggyness will develop floppy weak stems and lead to rot. Water daily to keep damp as 70°F will dry out quickly. Feed with liquid fertilizer once a week. Raise lights as plants grow taller maintaining head space. Make a round hoop with wire and 4 bamboo stakes pushed into the soil around the edge of the pot when they get 10-12" tall to keep plants from flopping over when they get too tall. Harvest from tips to encourage branching and more new stems

I hadn't considered growing dill indoors, since I want it for cooking that would be convenient. Butterflies tend to use it as a host plant if I grow it outdoors here in S. FL.

@@massages_for_world_peace8909they are small plants in individual pots with a plastic cellophane sleeve around them like you see fresh cut flowers have. They are literally right in the produce section usually placed on their own small stand. The plants in the garden section really do cost twice as much!

I struggle over wintering Thyme and Sage. Is bringing them indoors wrong? Zone 9a, London UK. They have been inside since the unexpected -7c cold snap in Dec. Sage was doing great until Jan/Feb and now the new growth is flopping? #Help

@@AnyKeyLady ah I was thinking you had them in the ground and dug them up to bring inside. My thyme is in the ground and my sage are in large planters. My sage is definitely looking rough but I think it'll actually survive our winter (or it'll be close) which is why I was thinking yours in your zone would probably be okay. But in fabric pots that have already been inside, I'd keep them there now. Watch your watering to make sure you're not giving them too much (the bane of indoor plants' existence!)
@AnyKeyLady

@@FloraM44 Thank you. Yes trying to watch the over watering.
@FloraM44

@@AnyKeyLady And if you suspect your soil might be too wet, you could try running a fan towards the fabric bag - I assume it's more breathable and therefore the air would help dry it out faster. Or you could gently pull the plant with soil out of the bag to check on the roots to get more info. Good luck!

I have been having a struggle with growing Dill. I love it but I have a hard time growing it to amount to any size... I actually started some seed in a "Mini Stalk"(shaped like the Green Stalks - but table top size from Dollar Tree; verysmall) & it has taken weeks to start growing & get to about 3" tall but still looks scraggly... I have kept it under an Aero Garden Grow Light panel every day, & watered it a lil bit abt every day. The lil mini stalk has the 3 clover leaf shaped cups to each layer which are abt 2" in diameter so you know how small it is. Do I need to repot the plant ? Does it need fertilize ? HELP! 😂

Breath freshener to chew post meals (guests like this a lot), or morning wake-up. If you like fresh rolls, I use up a lot of mint making those. Also things like tabouli (if I’m spelling that correctly). There’s a beet recipe I like, which has roasted beets, kalamata olives, mint, and a dressing.

Since mint is so envasive anyway, plant around the outside perimeter of your garden to keep out deer, rodents, and many insects including spiders they all hate mint. Also boil mint in water let it steep for several hrs then pour in a sprayer and spray anywhere there are bugs...including ants.
