👍 I'm putting auxiliary bracket on my boat. I thought I could get away with adapting dime ssteel stairs akin a ladder but it doesn't go out far enough to control tiller. that's a nice product!

Hello. Thanks for your video. When you’re traveling and could be a bit choppy does it bounce a lot and you fear it will rip off?

It will bounce a bit, but the bracket is sturdy and bolted through the transom. No worries about it ripping off.

Excellent review. How long is shaft on your kicker motor?

I'm out of town so I can't measure, but the manual says the short shaft seahorse is 15". That would have to exclude the lower unit. Combined it is longer.

@@mattp9029 Matt, thanks again for your reply. I went ahead and ordered a 20" shaft with a mounting bracket that allows the kicker motor to be lowered in the water. Again, thanks!

I’m looking at the panther marine one. It’s very similar but I was wondering can you run that motor wide open at max hp and rpm without a problem?

I've only got a small 2 stroke on it, so I can't really say. It handles my 6 HP with no problems.

No. I don't use it all the time, but its still works as intended when I do.

Can you adjust the trim angle of the plate for transoms that aren't close to 90 degrees vertical? The transom of my drift boat has a steep slant to it, so right now the cavitation plate of my motor is not parallel with the bottom of the boat.

I don't think so. Most small motors have pin adjustments for trim angle (you can see the 4 on mine clearly at 0:36), but I'm not sure if that helps you. Depends on the direction and steepness of your slant.

Does it have enough vertical adjustment to allow for using a short shaft outboard motor? I already have a 8hp johnson, hoping not to have to buy another motor..

I would say yes, but it may depend on your boat transom. My 6HP Johnson is a short shaft and it works fine. Just make sure it's installed properly. The instructions are pretty detailed on how to calculate where to mount it based on your specific motor.

So do you trailer with it on there all the time,I'm thinking about getting this one I have an 8 hp Mercury 4 stroke and it probably is 90+ lbs and I won't be able to take it off and on every time I go to the lake so i"m going to have to leave mine mounted too.

I do. I've not had any problems. Going down the lake is a much rougher ride than most roads. I do hook the safety cable.

@@mattp9029 Thanks,ya i'm sure it would be fine,maybe put a strap around it to keep it from moving,that bracket looks pretty stout.I'm sure they have to recommend that to cover themselves in case anything happened.

@@dannyheard2449 no doubt. a motor bouncing freely down the highway is potentially a much bigger problem than hitting the bottom of the lake. I'm not worried either way.

I have a catamaran so my transom is high. I'm looking for a motor bracket that lets me drop more than "horizontal". Does this bracket just go from up to horizontal, or does it actually pivot down? Thanks!

It does pivot down and go below horizontal, but not by a ton. You might want to check with Garelick on the exact specs. You could always mount it lower on the boat. As long as you can reach the lever without falling in!

Can it be used safely at higher speeds? So basically can I get up on a plane and use it without getting thrown out of the boat and losing a motor? I have mine installed on a 14’ Gregor with a mercury 200 (20 hp -2 stroke) @ roughly 75 lbs

Yes. No problem. Just check the the weight limit for whatever model you pick. 75# is fine

I like mine but can’t get it in the lowest notch setting I have a 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke So it should be heavy enough Any suggestions?

Other than just pushing down with the weight of the motor I'm not sure what I would recommend. I think to get it all the way down you do need to assist it.

I have a Mercury 9.9 and it has carry handle in front there, it looks like it might interfere when trying to put up. I notice you have no handle on front of your kicker.

There is a handle on the Johnson. It folds down. You can see it behind my hand.

Does it extend out far enough to clear my trim tabs?

It would depend on the length of your tabs. My boat does not have trim tabs so it's difficult to say. When lowered it's probably 12-14" away from the transom.
