I think Gareth and I have discovered our most favorite Wild Camping spot of the Yorkshire Dales!
.

Wild Camping with humour! Real outdoor life. No frills. No Bullsh!t.
Camping, Hiking, Kayaking, Canoe and Vanlife - we do it all here.
Products honestly reviewed (we can't stand those fake 'unboxing reviews')
We're just a couple of 'happy go lucky' people with a passion for showing how fun the outdoors is!
Take a look and see what you think.
*All content on our channel is our own opinion and our own views. All products reviewed are based on our own findings and we will not be swayed by a company to provide biased reviews, please do not contact us if this is your intention, it is not helpful for anyone to adopt this practice! All camps and days out are our own experiences of the outdoors and how 'we' like to enjoy it personally. Any negative 'troll like', abusive or foul language type of comments will not be approved to show on the channel and the user blocked from future comments showing on our channel (they will only show to the 'said user'). This is to keep the community the nice, friendly and helpful place we have always found it to be. We operate a leave no trace ethos when we camp and try and minimise the impact we have from camping in a location. Any fire ash is doused with water and ash is dispersed/covered and all rubbish removed. We'd encourage others to do the same.

Have you ever tried the citronella candles/tea-lights/joss-sticks? I get bitten to hell by anything with wings, and the tea-lights work a treat for me with the midges 👍🏻👍🏻 Lovely spot that - will going there for my first trip to that area this weekend if I can get away from the garden! 🏕

If you could make it up to Derwent valley in Derbyshire, the remains of the flooded village buildings are visible and accessible due the low water levels. It fascinating to wander round.

Great video again. You mention Tics, when I was in the forces in the 80s I obviously spent a lot of time out doors. And I can't remember any warning to us about Tics. Another excellent vid from you two. I find it interesting that you find smidge works for you. Last year in Scotland the midges were taking swimming lessons in the smidge and then getting their friends to join them. It definitely didn't work for me, but the Deet did. Keep up the good work.👍👍

You are such an Adventurous couple who compliment each other, that was certainly not a trek for the inexperienced treker !! I never see any of you refer to map or compass. During my military day's I always had one close to hand. Well done keep sharing. Dave B. Thailand.

Thanks Dave. This was an area we knew really well (up a valley and back down the valley) so no real risk of getting lost. We have map apps on our phones too. If it's up in the mountains though we always take OS maps with us Incase we get proper lost, but tbh we just 'wander' about getting lost on purpose, finding places off the trail. If we followed maps we'd only ever stick to the paths. If you follow our drift?

I thought about trying to find the mine round there. When I was up that valley last time I could see your spot from the other side. Apparently there's one tunnel you can go in with a big engine wheel or something inside. Is that where you were trying to get to? Brave getting down that hill, looked well dodgy! Cheers for the vid guys. ATB 👩&🐕

A another good thing to determine if you have walked through a tic infested area is getting gaffa tape and wrapping it sticky side out around you hand and putting yourself down, tics stick to it and show up against the white of the sticky side 😉

Twigs smouldering smoky smoke is only way keep critters away. The lamp will attract certain things which are then near to you. Smoky smoke only way forward. 👍🇬🇧
@GarethZoeWildcamps
@GarethZoeWildcamps Жыл бұрын
Bugs that go towards the light are going away from us thankfully. But only works with certain bugs. Yes smoke is best. Can't have fires on the Moors though, too risky with stray embers

Really good. Getting a kit ready for next years summer ( hopefully ). Getting from start to the trail, relatively unseen, with a backpack, and a backpack that's inconspicuous. Once in and on the trail, hopefully, I'll relax more. But yeah I like your take, as in, get somewhere hardiest, where hardly anyone would likely to go. Good, really good inspiration. Any advice, appreciated.
@GarethZoeWildcamps
@GarethZoeWildcamps Жыл бұрын
Well summers relatively easy to blend in with other hikers because you can get away with having a smaller rucksack (most people carry rucksacks when hiking). If anyone asks why you've got a big bag just say you're fitness training for something. Can I ask where you're from and the reason for the above? We just tell people we're camping if they ask. They're normally highly surprised and interested.
@jasonrigby446

@@GarethZoeWildcamps I live in a small town in the North West. Maybe I'm a little overly conscientious. I was going to hike around the Lakes, but I needed the rucksack, but it wasn't to be. And next year ( hopefully ) I'll have the affordability to not be bothered by cost and buy reasonable good quality and throw caution to the wind. I do go hiking, that's my thing, and sometimes I stop at a spot and think, if only I had the kit, I'd stay the night.
@GarethZoeWildcamps
@GarethZoeWildcamps Жыл бұрын
Jason, we can assure you if you're pitched up in the lakes (highish up a hill / mountain) no body will bother you at all. People pitching around the lowland lakes get moved on but you'll be fine up any of the hills / mountains. Just pitch away from any main paths and be sensible (ie no fire like) and you'll be grand :)

Hi, great vid as usual. What is it that you treat your clothes with? No heard of it before. Thanks. Managed to pick up some ‘smidge’ from go outdoors today. I remember using 100% deet in the past. Combined with camouflage cream it’s quite a cocktail that the midges loved 😂 Ordered a snugpak elite 4 on your recommendation too 👍👍 Thankyou
