Usually, the way in which the banana leaf must be placed in front of you before eating, has an orientation. Tradition says, the side of the banana leaf where we cut the leaf from the banana plant should come on the right side of the person eating. Not sure about other states but that's how it's done over here.

It's not Bombay it's Mumbai When the British used to say Mumbai, it used to sound like bombay and they used to say it like this, that is why the British changed Mumbai to Bombay, but I hope all Indians will call Mumbai as Mumbai only.

I had the experience of staying and dining at IIT KGP, IIT-Madras, IIT-Kanpur, and IIT-Bombay and I can vouch for the fact the IIT-B hostel and mess are way ahead of others. May be 9/10.
