Can you load an approach from FF (with an initial approach fix) and send it to the Garmin? I understand the Garmin Aera can't do initial approach fixes- only a final approach fix.
@sogpilot31373 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. 1. Select the desired Approach in ForeFlight. 2. In the ForeFlight edit menu, click on the Approach Procedure bubble. 3. In the drop-down menu, select “expand” for the procedure. You will now see all of the fixes/waypoints for the selected approach broken out into their individual components. Now send the flight plan to your Garmin device. You will now see the entire approach procedure depicted on your Garmin device. However, you will notice that Garmin will not recognize the names of all the waypoints and/or fixes. It will, however, insert all of them and define them as user waypoints. Hope this helps. Note: I have noticed at times when doing this that a runway threshold will not be recognized in my Garman device. There are times when it will insert the runway threshold as a waypoint not associated with the procedure. The correct runway threshold may be obtained simply by selecting the approach in your Garmin device and cleaning up the flight plan so it flows properly.

Since the ESG uses wireless on the iPad and the Garmin uses Bluetooth your able to connect them at the same time? I have the same config, an Ipad foreflight to ESG and the Aera 660. Avionics shop didn't explain the ESG doesn't integrate with Garmin.

Hello. Yes, the iPad connects with X-Plane via WiFi and Garmin 660 connects to the iPad via Bluetooth for the purpose of syncing flight plans between the two devices. However, the 660 connects to the X-plane via hard wire as described in the link contained in the description.

I read, only the 760 can use IFR and RNAV, can you load RNAV App in the 660?

Hi, I have the Aera 790, but my question is, my Bluetooth does not want to connect even to my phone, Samsung, do they only connect to iohonescndvioads via Bluetooth?. And secondly I bought Skydemon already, will aera integrate with Skydemon also or only Fflight and Garmin pilot?. My aera 795 also does not show a wifi connection like others on KZfaq, if you maybe could advise me. Thank you

Would the earlier models, aera500 and up have the capability to transfer flight plans?
@sogpilot3137 Жыл бұрын
Hi Glenn. I don’t think earlier generations of Aera have flight plan sharing.

I may be wrong about transferring from FF to Aera pertaining to longitude/latitude but visual procedures cannot be transferred at least on my unit from my iPad 11" pro.
@sogpilot31373 жыл бұрын
Hello. Based on your comments I created a flight plan in ForeFlight on my iPad and established multiple user way points based on latitude and longitude. They transferred to the aera 660 without issue. Also tried the reverse and they transferred to the iPad without issue.
@achillesmjb3 жыл бұрын
@@sogpilot3137 Thanks.. I verified that also but there was on one incident a slight change in the flight path between the path on FF and the path shown on Aera after transfer fro FF to Aeera.

Unfortunately, if you are using a GDL50/51/52 unit with Aera 660 and Ipad, you can only connect 1 device on the 660 via BT. So, if you connect Aera to FF, you will lose the GDL on the 660. GDL5x will remain connected to Ipad and FF. I'm guessing you will need to hardwire GDL5x to Aera 660/760.

Hi, so can one connect aera via Bluetooth to iPad ( just to share the flight plan that was created on my iPad foreflight, , and iPad has a Sim and use that for my forefflifght as normal when flying?

You know I wonder if an ipad running Garmin pilot would be more capable, and get along even better with the 660?
@sogpilot3137 Жыл бұрын
Hello. No question it would. Garmin likes to play in their own sandbox.

I am looking at the newer and larger 760, but it seemed that only the 660 have IFR mode at least on the map. Is this IFR capable?
@sogpilot31379 ай бұрын
Hello. The 760, like the 660, includes IFR and VFR charts for situational awareness. I chose the 660 because I have limited panel space and I primarily use my iPad mini with ForeFlight.
@wckoek9 ай бұрын
@@sogpilot3137 thanks! The garmin info page is a bit confusing as it doesn't mention IFR for the 760, it is something I need to special order and the dealer know nothing about these aero tablets.

My Aera 660 will not connect automatically to the Flightstream 210. I have to manually connect it everytime I start my airplane by going into the setup menu. The automatic connect is enabled. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanx for the great video.
@sogpilot31378 ай бұрын
Hello. Yes, my experience is the same. I connect each time using the setup menu.
@billrushing12105 ай бұрын
Interesting…it seems my 660 connects w 210 automatically every time. One difference may be that my 660 is hardwired to the GTX 345 for ADSB and uses the BT to 210 only for flight plan data
@sogpilot31375 ай бұрын
Same here. I have to go into the set up manual and make my connection each flight.

Unfortunately cannot transfer properly from FF to Aera visual procedures. Also cannot transfer edits made in FF to Aera that are graphical edits that modify a flight path that is just identified by longitude/latitude.
@sogpilot31373 жыл бұрын
I didn’t realize visual procedures would not transfer. Verified that just now. Frankly, I’ve never found the visual procedures in ForeFlight useful because they almost always are incorrect with regard to pattern entry. When flying the visual, I simply enter the airport and set extended runway center lines to help plan the pattern entry prior to arrival.
