Connect Garmin GTX345 to tablet or iPad

*Correction: I say GTX335 in the video, but this model is not going to have Bluetooth capabilities. This will only work for the GTX345.
Connecting your tablet to a device in the airplane with ADS-B and GPS is super helpful.
*Depending on the model, you may get some or all of the functionality shown above.
GTX345: ADS-B traffic, WAAS GPS
I am using the Samsung Galaxy tab A 10.5 with Garmin pilot and it works great!
NOTE: Only Garmin Pilot and ForeFlight work with the GTX's...Super uncool Garmin!
According to Garmin most tablets will work with these units, IF you are using the appropriate applications.

Make sure to read the manual for the Garmin unit installed in the plane you fly, this will determine what it can provide you i.e. just ADS-B out, out and in, or out and in with GPS, ...there may be more variations. I am not an expert on any of these systems.

Literally searched for a video explanation because I heard the type of transponder in N4429Q could connect to an iPad for GPS... and the first video I find is a demonstration of someone connecting an iPad to the transponder in N4429Q!

Thanks. No Bluetooth in the SYS menu on my new 345. I have a 430W attached and get traffic and weather on it, but no Bluetooth connectivity. Garmin was no help, which was sad, since this is a brand new purchase. Avionics shop is stumped and waiting on Garmin to respond. Very expensive disappointment so far.

This only applies to GTX 345. GTX 335 is AdS-B out only

Regarding your video title: I believe that the Garmin GTX-335 does NOT include ADS-B In and therefore cannot connect to nor provide data to an electronic flight app. That's why the GTX-345 retails for $2,000 more - to allow this functionality.

You are correct. Do you have a GTX-335? It does have a WAAS GPS option. Do you know the procedure to connect the GPS to a tablet? I am guessing its similar? Thank you for the clarification, I will ad this to the description.

@@Fandkforever Only the GTX-345 has a bluetooth interface so there is no connecting a GTX-335 to a tablet.

Diveocean FrontRunner i think it does. My flight instructor used to use it. I asked him how he used foreflight on his iPad without WiFi. He told me that he hooked his iPad up through Bluetooth to the transponder. His iPad wasn’t cellular or anything

@@mikeh9587 it sure does. My CFI's use their wifi only iPads. It hooks up to the transponder via Bluetooth. As long as you have the charts downloaded, I believe it works

@@TySteve539 it sure does. My iPad is just a regular iPad. You use Bluetooth to hook it up to the transponder
