Hi Mindy Thanks for your videos.... But I would like to see a video explaining the advanced functions of the GARMIN AERA 760 like: 1.- Climate over wifi 2.- AHRS form GDL50/51/52 3.- Split screen between ADHRS and GPS (I think the 760 does not, but the 796 does)

Just bought mine from Avionics Systems, Leesburg VA, who are installing a new complete Garmin panel in my Lancair ES-P. The Aera 760 should marry to it perfectly and this video should assist the transition.

Hello Mindy, I have a Sport Cub and would love upgrade from the old 496... from what I can see, the 660 will fit, but the 760 is larger? Did you ever panel mount the 760?

I like to idea of a device more rugged than a tablet that does not shut down due to heat. The size is optimal. Howver, I think the charts should be free. Nice CubCrafter!

Hello Mindy! Just wondering if you have missed not having the VTF feature on the procedures? I have heard mixed reviews about this and wanted your opinion. Have you heard if there are any talks about putting this feature back in with an upcoming update? Thanks! The Carbon Cub is awesome!

Hi Stan, I don't fly approaches in my cub, so it really doesn't affect me. To the point where I did not even know that was missing. However, I would miss that feature if I was in a plane that was shooting approaches, yes.

I fly in Africa and try keep the flying where possible to early morning or late afternoon. I have had to fly in the heat of the day, that makes for a very uncomfortable and turbulent flight. With the Garmin 695 I find the knob and buttons are great in turbulent conditions. How user friendly is the 760 touch screen in turbulent conditions?

Hi, I see on your video your aera has a Wi-Fi connection available. I have the 790, mine only shows Bluetooth. Did your aera come standard with that connection?. Wi-Fi?

Capt. RD thanks!! We have someone that will cut a new panel to fit the mount. Air gizmo usually makes the mounts but the 760 is so new that it’s not out yet. So that’s all we’re waiting on really

How does this compare to the IPad Mini and ForeFlight? It is $1500 . I can see based your set up it would be an improvement, but what about as a replacement for the IPad?

KEWN G36 I prefer to keep my iPad as a backup and for flight planning at home. Plus, my Apple products are ALWAYS over heating when I use them in the sunlight

And also can your aera Bluetooth connect to any cell phone or laptop? Or Bluetooth connect only to iPhone and iPad?. Or maybe my settings are wrong? Mine shows... Bluetooth.... Gls device.... Connect.... But my phone is not a GKS device... Could you assist? 😢

wayne menzi I prefer it, yes. It has a lot more features than ForeFlight would on an iPad. I like to have my iPad at home for flight planning and don’t really fancy taking something in and out of the panel all the time. Plus, my iPad will always overheat in the sunlight. Not sure if that’s a common problem or not 😅

It would be nice if you had done a balanced review rather than just a re-hash of the advertising blurb. Np product is perfect and viewers would be well served by hearing of the CONS as well as the pros of any product.

Douglas Boyd I’ve never watched their advertisements but I honestly don’t have much bad to say. It’s just a little portable VFR gps. For what I use it for, it’s overkill lol does way more than what I need my cub to be able to do. My only negative I found so far is that it took a long time to charge when I first unboxed it. Lol

Schmiiindy -fly with it a bit more and you’ll find the warts. I have yet to buy a portable which doesn't have some flaw(s). Never had an Ipad flake out by over-heating? Back to the aera line. I used to have a garmin aera 510 which was advertised as sporting an attitude indicator and t/c. Great as backup if you had a gyro failure in IMC-right? Wrong! this was all pre integrated AHRS so the Aera gyro display INFERRED bank angle based on lateral deviation from flight path. Thus the Aera displayed bank angle would always lag your aircraft’s actual bank angle resulting in a tendency to over-bank and potentially a stall.

Hi Mindy I’m based in the U.K., and I’ve just bought a 760, which be replacing a 495. It’s interesting that in all the reviews I have seen, no body has mentioned the fact that all Garmin gps units stream the NMEA data. None of the software only gps people, like SkyDemon, runway he, easy VFR, and even Garmin pilot allow MNEA data to be transmitted/steamed. As you know autopilot’s need this type of data to follow routes and flight plans. So the AERA 760 is a no brainier if you have an autopilot.
