What a convoluted process! Great explanation, but Wahoo and Bryton do a far superior job of this simple task with smartphone setup. Amazed that Garmin hasn’t embraced this yet.

Good job man. True that the 530 is powerful but the interface seems 10 years late… as we are all used to smartphone now. So this video is very useful and when the gps is setup correctly you don t need to change it every day

So pleased I found this. I was on the verge of returning my 530. The instructions/manual from Garmin are poor. I'm embarrassed at the time it took me to customise / edit the screens. Without this clear video I'd have not got there. Compared to say Apple devices the command / edit structure on Garmin is far from intuitive and well behind.

I found the screen dark and hard to see. Mind me asking what is your brightness set up? I'm so used to the 520 at 0%... I never had an issue. The 530 is different and much darker. Also have you figured out how to loose the virtual partner and the large green field? Thank you for your help

Absolutely ridiculous. I'm looking to buy a more serious bike GPS with proper navigation and I thought this has been a basic feature on any serious bike computer. My 60usd Magene C406 from Aliexpress allows me to tweak all settings and data fields on the phone then just push it to the computer in three seconds. Astonishing that you can't do that on one of the most advanced computers from the top GPS device manufacturer in the world...

Mine of six months dropping worst GPS after say 5 miles. And if stop if loses heart and cadence sensors. Painful. Does it need a firmware update. The 2 days it lost gps interestingly the Fenix 6 also did. Just wierd

Very useful thanks. One question from me. What on earth is the number that looks like a temperature on the top line next to the time when you have the status page open.. I can’t believe it is the temp as it differs by some 10 degrees to the temp shown on the weather line. Does anyone know? I can’t find it referenced anywhere

Hi there nice video. I have a question for you. It is possible to go scroll the screens automatically like the garmin watches ? Thanks
@5speed735i3 жыл бұрын
Go to "settings", pick your "Activity Profile", scroll down to "Auto Features", the scroll down to "Auto Scroll", you can choose from "Off", "Slow", or "Fast"

Do you need the sensor package for the speed to work? i don’t really understand the sensor package.
@VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE Жыл бұрын
The 530 calculates your speed using GPS without the need for a separate sensor. The speed sensor helps if you use your bike on a static trainer and the cadence sensor tells you how quickly you are spinning your cranks (the garmin cannot tell you this with out the cadence sensor). If you are not interested in cadence then you don't need the sensors and as said the Garmin will happily display your speed and works it out via gps,

Im a 50 year old luddite coming off a Cateye I struggled to set up. Me wife buys me this this hightech Garmin thingy and I cant figure out if I need a speed sensor or not for it. I would prefer run it not connected to Strava or anything else. Can it work without a separate speed sensor?

530 and buttons reminds me of texting with my flip phone. Upgrade to 830 with touchscreen , so much easier.
@VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE4 жыл бұрын
I would normally agree and definitely prefer the touch screen, however.....it really isn't worth approx 30% more when once setup the 530 still only needs 2 button pushes to get going (the same as the 830). 99% of the time I only use one screen on the device and even if i need to scroll i can to that with my di2 hood buttons. Touchscreen is better .... just not 30% more pounds better. The 530 is the current sweetspot price/feature wise.

Hi i would like to have a white background, how its possible?
@5speed735i3 жыл бұрын
I noticed that my 530 will have a white background during the day, and black background during the night. I think the unit knows to do this based on the time of day or night that you use it.

Typical nonsense. Total pain in the ass. Now I've got at least a dozen digital devices...do I really want to learn every f*n step to this device? I can't even get it to show my cadence. (Checking the connected sensors to make sure my cadence sensor is still attached.... does nothing. So don't buy this stupid thing unless your computer and bicycle are in the same room?) End result is that once I get the cadence, speed, elapsed time and maybe elevation... I'm never going to change screens - why invite this hassle? (And those natterers? "I don't why you're having a problem ..." Ha. )
