Upgrading from the Garmin Forerunner 935 to the 945 and paying for lunch with Garmin Pay in under 20 minutes. Is it possible? Yed it is. Today I switch to the FORERUNNER 945 which has music, maps, ANT+ sensor support, everything you'd need to track your rides or runs.

Returned a forerunner 245 because lot of issues with buttons getting stuck or having a weird feel. Then purchased the 945 and same issue, garmin forum is full of people complaining about the same. Garmin even locked a thread that was over 100 replies long because oh well too many people already ( I was lucky to grab a photo of the garmin reply ) which part of it says that their engineers know about the issue and are currently investigating it. I am returning the 945 this coming weekend and wont buy another one till the buttons issue is resolved

Looking at getting one so this was very informative. At this stage my bank doesn't support Garmin pay but good to see how easy it was to setup. Spotify support is good even though it needs a premium account. How did it go when traveling. Obviously the linked phone needs a local telco. Regarding maps do you use 3rd party maps and do you need to remove the Australian ones first? Or can they be left on and then select the one to use. Look forward to any future videos on the 945.

Thank you for another wonderful video. I am using the 935 and have not found a way for zwift to pick up my heartbeat. I am using a tacx neo and apple tv to run my zwift. Any chance you know if I am missing a step in my setup to track my heartbeat thank you for your time.

Checking in the Garmin Connect app, Australia seems to have numerous banks that are signed up for this. Are the main ones generally covered? However uptake in the UK is very poor. Can only see one of our major banks in the list and not the one I use. A friend signed up for a mobile based account that is included. Not an ideal solution though.

I upgraded my 935 to the 945 last month. Love it. Faster, better features and better display. However, I’ve found Garmin pay to be a bit lacking. I have 3 major credit cards that are not supported.

I was interested, but at over $900 I think I will stick with my old Polar M400. Send me a reminder in 5 years when the price is reasonable because all the trendoids have moved on to the new Apple hologram watch.

Hi Shane, have you done any live tracking with the Garmin 945lte? I just picked up a new 945lte as my current 945 requires me to have my iPhone with me. Now I do believe that the 945lte does livetrack without my iPhone as desfit, Ray and others have shown this feature but I rang Garmin AUS today and they said no, you still need your iPhone with you. Could you please assist?

LTE versions should work within Australia. Sounds like Garmin support need to review their reply, or be specifically clear as to why their LTE watches don’t work here.

It's a good watch, upgraded from it to a Marq Aviator, but the support for Garmin Pay is not the same as Apple Pay in term of banks supporting it. TrueUp is unfortunately still marketing BS from Garmin. It doesn't sync between my watch, 1030 and 820. The Garmin forums are full of people complaining it's hopelessly broken.

You'll need to check with Garmin and your back as to what cards/services are supported by GarminPay.

I still have my old 935 and of course it's not syncing correctly with TrueUp regardless of all the usual trickery regarding resetting, logging in and out of account and so forth. In Europe Garmin Pay works if you have a Mastercard based card, can't get any Visa or Amex to work.

It depends. Feature wise, for me it's a yes. Price wise not really.

Hey Shane, how does this integrate with zwift? Can you use it as a heart rate monitor?

It can broadcast HR data that Zwift can pick up. I have MUCH better accuracy with a HR strap indoors though.

Ask? I don't believe it's avaible in the UK at all at the moment though but that's really all I know as I'm a UK resident. I also don't believe it's very common in other parts of the world either though? Definetly not as common as Apple pay.

@@Julie-my6ds I've used it in Portugal and as long as there's contactless payment reader's in the shops, no probs so far. Edit, one very important thing is to check if your bank supports it. It's mostly just the banks fault for accessibility.

This appears to be the #1 fitness watch on the market. But, Garmin certainly didn't invest anything in the looks department. It's ugly. At that price range perhaps they could have put a silver bezel around it like the 645...
