Learned something new with my Garmin 770 today. I know my GPS is a little different than Mr. Miles is and maybe yours, but my lesson learned might be useful to you before you trash yours or buy a new one. About a year ago I performed an online update (I have the LMT) and my device decided to stop working. No response to charging or any of the soft reset actions Garmin Support says. Several years ago I sent my 760 to Garmin when it did something similar and for $140 I mailed it to them and they 'repaired' it and I still have it. I started thinking about replacing the battery and opened the device to see how difficult it would be to replace. When I disconnected the battery to check it out...see if it was puffy or anything else...it all looked good. So I reconnected the battery and to satisfy my curiosity, I pushed the power on button and eureka, the device started up. Maybe this is another reset method.....on cell phones it's called a hard reset....but Garmin doesn't even mention this if nothing else works. It's a pisser that I had to stumble across this secret and so I'm passing it on to anyone else searching for 'what to do' with your Garmin GPS. Thanks. Mines would turn on, but would get stuck on a flickering Garmin logo. Turns out, I didn't have to reset, it was a faulty charge cable.

Mine is a OTR700 and I don't have the + & - buttons. Mine was just sitting in my pickup unused and it was deader than a doornail..trying to see about a hard reset. Might have to go back to my old Dezl 760..
