Garmin Smart Rudder Bias: Assistance After an Engine Failure

When an engine fails in a twin, you must act quickly to maintain control of the aircraft. Smart Rudder Bias - available with installation of the GFC™ 600 digital autopilot with yaw option and G500™ TXi/G600 TXi with EIS - provides assistance that helps give you time to react and maintain stabilized flight and fly to a suitable airport for emergency landing.

If Garmin wants to give us something useful, implement "glide path circles" on the garmin G500 txi and G3X. Foreflight has this, and it should be a standard software upgrade on the Garmin units as well. Its a major safety item for all engine outs.

The G3X HAS glide range rings. They already did, it's in the latest GTN Xi update and will show on the G500 TXi.

@@robertg5393 Good. However, I have a G500 txi. Do they plan to add that to G500/G500 txi as well? Also, the Foreflight glide range feature has issues. It can actually *leave the glide ring behind* in flight (like on a very old position). Something about updating the data. This feature is perhaps the best safety feature I have seen since ADS-B, ie., everyone should have it.

How am I going to identify dead foot dead engine when rudder force is applied, confusing old school pilots?

The system won’t do all of the work, it is meant to help with the initial event and assist you in the process. You’ll still have some input to make, it just may not make your leg quiver as mush with Garmin helping. Thank you for considering Garmin. ^DK
