I thought I would do a brief demonstration of the new Zumo XT....and then it turned into a 30 minute long video. I had to split it up into a couple other videos to keep it from being even longer.

I just bought the Zumo XT now you do not have to touch the screen, just put your finger over the button. It is like all traditional GPS for automotive with a few added features for motorcycle. I have not tried it yet, set up was very easy. thank you for your step by step video.

The screen brightness auto adjusts and the user interface colors change to a dark theme automatically at sunset and back to white at sunrise.

Your report on the touch screen is exactly what I wanted to know, and I couldn't agree more about the screen on the 396, horrible...Can't wait to scoop up an XT!

I have just bought one and in learning curve. I like the 4 additional apps you can connect with from the phone drive,smart phone, explore and Nav Garmin. My problem is my device keeps shutting off, with the charge light is green while riding. This was the first time using. Thank you for your excellent tutorial. I will keep playing and setting up.

That sounds like you might have a bad unit. I actually had that exact same problem with the first one I received and it was replaced by garmin. You may want to check all your electrical connections for the mount and if everything’s good you should contact garmins customer support. The Ultimate Campground and I-Overlander Apps are very useful for finding small campgrounds. I-Overlander using a phone with internet you can add to the I-Overlander list of campgrounds. I like having the Garmin Drive App. Warns you of trouble ahead, construction, accidents, and will give subjections for quicker routes. I was riding around Mobile Alabama on the southside. Trip south the road I chose had lots of traffic lights, return trio north the Drive App rerouted me on the eastside of the city on a two-lane rural road, no light and the GPS said I would save 20 minutes of travel. I do hate Base Camp, only been successful once setting up a route.

The auto dimming feature I believe uses a sunset clock as well as the sensors on the bike - depending on the model. It will change in a tunnel for example. Where it gets wonky is north of the Arctic Circle, in my experience. As I approached Prudhoe Bay in July at about 10:00 p.m., the GPS wanted to go into night mode even though there was still sunlight. The result was that I had a black screen (voice directions only) for a couple days until I was much further south. This was the case despite my wrestling with settings. - I am referring to an older model, not this one btw.

Yeah, that will probably keep me from getting an XT. I have a 595lm and other than the screen, do not really see much that I would gain by getting an XT...

Thanks for the explanation BEST video, finally you tell me what I need 👍🤟 Another only show me cable and conectors in UK garmin tell us will be available 2nd quarter 2020 Ps I start with zumo quest after zumo 660 after buying zumo 590 but they haven't system to txt messages and buy zumo 595😁 And now will be that model will see what will be 😀

Hi, does this device have an option to deselect highways on route ..like in Google maps where there are options such as avoid highways, tolls and ferries?

Yes it does. You can find that in the navigation settings menu. It also has the adventurous routing mode that will try to include roads that are more fun, basically it will look for twisty roads.

I would be interested in seeing the phone mesh to the Garmin features such as message , phone call and music. Will you be doing a video on those features?

Adam Rawle thank you! It’s great on the road. The screen is so much brighter than older models. I can read this screen in direct sunlight no problem. The navigation and map views are the same as any other Zumo it’s just easier to use now.

Keith Larsen thanks for the compliment! You are gonna love the new Zumo. I was messing around with my 396 to get it ready to sell and I had already forgotten how terrible the screen is on that. The touch function and also the color.....it’s just terrible.

Let's say we have a Garmin Zümo XT and a smartphone with spotify on it. How do we listen, through our bt wireless headset, to both the GPS and spotify?

thats going to depend on your specific headset. most new headsets can have music playing and still play gps directions either over your music or it will pause the music to play the gps directions.

On my Zumo 595LT, I need to delete my Sena Bluetooth and iPhone connection and connect only to the Garmin. Otherwise things get wonky. Everything then works through the Garmin, notifications, phone calls, music, voice directions, ect.

How much better is the XT screen over the 595? As far as brightness

tacjam1 tacjam1 I’ve never used the 595 but I assume it has the same style screen as my 396 and the screen on the XT is absolutely incredible compared to the 396.......touch sensitivity and brightness are both majorly improved. I can read the screen on this in full sun with no issue....could not say the same with my 396. I have a video that highlights just the screen on the XT.

@@TourmotoDesign Let me check out that video, I took my 1290SA to Alaska 2yrs ago with the 595, I have no complaints on that screen, but I think it would be awesome to have a screen like my boy's KTM 790 Adv screen.

tacjam1 I was just talking to a buddy about how this gps looks so much like the screen on his newer 1290. That’s cool you rode up to Alaska. Did you go up to prudhoe bay? I have a trip planned to go up there this June.....not sure if it’s gonna be able to happen though with everything that’s going on.

@@TourmotoDesign Yes I went all the way up. It was an awesome trip, very very long for sure!! I love that screen, I think the 790 and 1290 share the same screen. I have the same screen as you do, my 595 was actually a 590 but the firmware was upgraded to a 595, the 590 and 595 share the same hardware. I might get the XT if the screen matches the 1290 factory screen. Does the music player have a stand-alone Spotify and Pandora, or is it just whatever is bt from the smartphone?

Will the brilliant screen be a problem on the road? Better brightness but more reflection, no?

the screen is great. you can see it still in direct sunlight and I have not had any issues with glare.
