After over a month of not playing Skater XL, I figured it was finally time to pick it back up and see how it feels. Honestly, after a month of ONLY playing Session, I was kind of expecting to hate Skater XL, but it was kind of the opposite. Going back to Skater XL after a month of Session was actually somewhat refreshing, and I really do think that both games compliment each other very well. We will definitely be playing some more Skater XL in the future!

Oh, you're still reading the description? That's kinda weird. I guess I'll tell you a bit about myself. My name is Garrett Ginner, I like skateboarding, playing video games, and having fun. I have my main channel where I post vlogs and that kinda stuff, and I decided to start this channel because I've always had a love for playing video games. Now, I'm not actually good at any video games, so I spend a lot of my time playing action games like Skater XL, Descenders, Beam NG, Skate 3, etc. but I'm always looking for new games to play. @@ForeverManu111 I’m aware. But simply put if you get entertainment out of playing a game, in the end it shouldn’t matter if it’s not going to be updated - regardless of the state that it’s in. I’ll keep playing it because I enjoy it, not because I expect more out of it.

I booted it up yesterday on Xbox, went to the mod menu, saw there are no new maps, did a treflip, cried, exited to dashboard

There's a Skater XL mod called XLWeather by Guru that's being worked on now that adds a day/night cycle similar to Session. Gives every map more shadows and lighting! Definitely a good mod for refreshing XL

I genuinely think sessions animations are better than skater XL at this point. Mostly with the skater physical animations in the experimental settings.

Yeah not sure why people think "fluid" is a good look for skateboarding. Sessions seems much more realistic, which is what I'd want to go for in a skateboarding sim. Also the depth seems there more on session that skaterXL, with sidepopping, late flips, pressure flips, darkslides, primo's & caspers. You cant do any of that on SkaterXL unless you're playing with mods. Session doesn't need any.

I played it again today too. I have played it a couple of times since session came out, but it definitely feels very weird every time back. Especially because I’m playing on PS5.

Many different basics of combinations tricks to skating like riding on a bike training sessions and developing into a new generation to a cool map in sessions!

Anyone else coming back to this game after playing session and noticing that when you try to do any tricks when you crouch down it goes way faster than session. In skater Xl when you wanna pop it’s basically just straight down and then up but in session it takes a sec for you to crouch down to pop. I know it’s a weird thing to say but it’s one of the main things that I immediately noticed when playing skater xl again.

XL feels so weird on console compared to session now, when I go back to xl the tricks look glitchy af, the catch is still bugged PLUS I paid £10 for baggy pants and now I don't play 🤣

The only thing Skater XL has is how easy the grinds are other than that Session is light years ahead of XL.

The only thing that I miss and that annoys me in Session is that being goofy you don't feel switch or fakie postures, in fact goofy is still noticeable as switch😢😢😢

Dude, the 'physics' of XL isn't patented or anything, right? Can you imagine the 'fluidity' of XL in Session? I dream of the day.

Session is just as fluid if you know how to play it. Just harder to master.

The thing that sets them apart is how you start doing the trick before you're done inputting the controls in XL, whereas in Session you need to input for both feet before the trick starts. That 'delay' is what keeps a lot of people off Session as it feels a lot less responsive. I'm getting used to it but its not the same as XL.

I used to think skater xl was better with mods than session, now going back to it, it looks flowier but less realistic with tricks for sure

You just cant say that skaterxl is more customizable and has more content, its all carried by mods, the core game, what the developers made is bare bones, cant imagine myself playing it on xbox again, i just hope that session is full of updates and isnt a wasteland after christmas

It’s a bit of a bummer when you see how low those player numbers are. When you convert that to money the devs have made (for both games) it’s really very little. I doubt they’re even breaking even, so part of me understands why Easy Day dropped the game. People gotta make a living somehow and if it ain’t paying you gotta move on sometimes.

I've seen far and few people that called this a long time ago. The audience that enjoys skateboarding simulation isn't big enough to be divided like it is and still make money, it isn't a COD vs Battlefield or Forza vs GT situation.

Sxl for sure is the better game in terms of mechanics and flow but session has stronger support and newer maps. I think it'll get old like sxl but let's see if they actually save it unlike easy day. But scl side by side is def the superior game not counting anything else.

its crazy (play what you want not saying dont in any way) but everytime i see XL now its not "the game" that makes me mad/upset. Its how it reminds me of how the devs just . . . let it go, pretty much. such a Amazing start to a slow but painful death/process of dying (i wouldnt say its 100% there yet and at any moment tbh could revive if they gave a SHIT lol) and im saying this as a native session player and back to only playing session (when it comes to Skate Sims... excited af for S4 tho the community aspect in that looks like it will be fun af with ppl) but im not going to deny it is nice being able to even say we have choices now of skate games.. went from damn near 10 almost 13+ years of NOTHING but going back to past THPS games or EA Skate games from pre 2010 to after thos 10+ years from 0 - not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 NEW SKATE GAMES!! (4 being if you include THPS Remakes & Skate 4 even tho not out yet) and i also heard a few of the SXL modders have their own game in the works i seen early vids of.. LOOKS AMAZING but that was a few months ago.. idk how far along they are or if its still getting worked on.. i hope it is cause even that would look like itd end up better than XL and thats crazy to think lol

Session isn’t that great as everyone makes out. Constant frame rate issues , horrible control input, clipping through the board (among many other faults). I actually get more enjoyment playing Skater XL , even though I know the console version isn’t getting a update anytime soon (it needs one)

Just a tip for anyone experiencing Frame rate lag when playing session go into display and graphics and turn on performance mode and it’ll get rid of all that jittering and tracers you see. Also fuck skater XL
