I knew this song from Garth’s early days and I loved it but until my husband was killed in an accident it didn’t mean as much. Once I lost him I knew exactly what the song meant. - he was the love of my life and he did show me how much he loved me. ❤❤

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my wife to cancer in July of 2021. Garth Brooks is from my state. I have always enjoyed listening to Garth, as did my wife. However, Garth has crossed a line by indirectly supporting transgenderism. Let me explain. As I am sure you are aware Bud light and AB are being boycotted due the Mulvaney incident. Now Garth has opened a bar/restaurant in Nashville claiming he will have Bud Light in his new bar and basically called the AB boycotters a-holes. This has sent a whole lot of his fans against him to the point they are burning and destroying any products they have bought of Garth's. It is a sad situation, I mean, all he had to do was keep his mouth shut concerning the AB products he was going to try to sale in his bar and for sure not call anybody names.

I left on Christmas day, 1992 for Desert Storm. The night before I deployed, we watched a VHS of a Garth Brooks concert. Since we had never had a formal wedding reception, my wife and I decided that this was "our song", that we wished we could have had our first dance to. Coming up to our 52nd Anniversary, this is still the song that hits so many spots for us.

It's been ten years since I lost my husband and this song still turns on the tears after the first few notes. It so perfectly describes the things we should all think about. We're all going to die some day, and although that's a tough fact to process it's definitely worth thinking about.

I lost my wife of 26 years unexpectedly in 2017 at only 47 years of age. The one solace that I still take is that we never once parted ways or ended a conversation without expressing our love for one another. Partially from the admonishment that this song provides, but also because I had a close friend in college that I had a stupid argument with and was killed in a car accident later that very night. It still gnaws at me that we left it on a sour note like that. Additionally, six months before she passed my wife and I were given the opportunity to see Garth on July 4th in Vegas. It was the last trip we got to take and I get to hold on to that happy memory for the remainder of my life.

"If Tomorrow Never Comes", "The Dance", "Friends In Low Places", "The Thunder Rolls", and "Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old" are the epitome of the best of Garth Brooks from his first 2 albums. There are others, and there are others from the following albums, but these songs set the tone for the beginning of one of country music's greatest artists. I actually met him in person, not at a concert, but on a street corner in East Lansing, Michigan. There is a pool hall/arcade in downtown East Lansing called Pinball Pete's. I would go there late at night/early morning, so on this night, I was going in about 2am to shoot some pool and unwind. As I drove down the street to find a place to park, I saw a line of touring busses parked next to the Marriot hotel on the corner. I park, and walked down the street towards the pool hall and the touring busses. I saw people carrying boxes and luggage into the hotel, and eventually I walked past the lead bus when someone came out and said, "Hey buddy, what are you doing at this time of night?" I turned toward him and realized it was Garth Brooks himself! We shook hands, talked some small talk, and while I am not the kind to get starstruck since I've met many other celebs in my time, the realization that he was my favorite artist and I was having a rare opportunity with him made me nervous! I actually invited him to shoot some pool with me, which he politely declined since he had another concert in East Lansing that day and he needed to catch some sleep. We shook hands again, and I went across the intersection to the pool hall. The whole time I was racking and taking shots it ran through my head, "Oh my God, I just met Garth Brooks!" I'll just say that he's very down to earth, looks you in the eye as he speaks or listens to you, very polite, and you can sense the genuineness from him. Totally made my night though! When i got home a couple hours later, my dad was on the phone checking on us from work. I said, "You'll never guess who I met tonight?" and he just outright said, "I dunno, Garth Brooks?" It was sorta well known that he was in town for a couple days of concerts at the Breslin Center, so I guess it was easy to figure out.

THE BEST thing about this, and him, is that he *truly, understands Love*. It seems that the true concept has gotten lost for the most part. IT’S NOT ABOUT HIM. Or his feelings about what he possesses or needs. On the news when they interview someone who’s child got shot or sister got hit by a drunk driver, they almost always say, “Now I will never have them again.” I never thought much of it, until my dad died from cancer while I was just growing my own family. I had a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old, and a 16 yr old. He loved and adored them so much, and SO WELL. He came by every evening after hanging out with his friends. He really didn’t want to die because of coarse he has always wanted to look out for me and make sure I would always be a okay and he enjoyed watching my children grow and change every single day, and he loved watching me grow into a great mother. I really liked that he got to see that. ❤️. He was on hospice at home and I’m an RN so basically I wouldn’t let anyone else take care of him but me. I was very protective just like he was. When he passed I was laying next to him holding his hand while just resting with my stethoscope on his chest. Then ~he left~. The coroner and hospice nurse came right away and, I’ll never forget, someone said, “I’m sorry for your loss.”. I remember feeling kind of confused by the comment and thought, ‘WHAT are you talking about??!’. My dad just lost his life, when he didn’t want to. Why would you feel bad for me?? HE is the one who lost everything! Feel sorry for his loss, not mine. THAT is love. Now when I hear family members on the news say, “I will never have them again for the rest of my life.”, it sounds very different to me. Why are they thinking about themselves so much and what they need? (I mean it’s a given of coarse, I talk to my dad all the time and could REALLY REALLY have used him around over the last few years. I have missed and needed him so badly. But I wouldn’t want him to know that because then he would feel bad about leaving too soon.) Garth wants to make sure SHE is loved. He gets it. Very cool guy.

He was in the Military, he is buried here at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego along with my Grandparents, Topps was played at his funeral &it was free of charge because he was a Veteran of the Military. My Mom still has a very hard time with his death as do we all, as no amount of counseling will bring him back. People say, "it will get better", it doesn't, we keep putting one foot in front of the other..he will never be forgotten!❤

I lost my wife of 42 yrs 3 yrs ago. Due to the covid lockdown we never really say goodbye properly. This is a beautiful message people need to take serious. One song that really gets to me now since her passing is "Into The Mystic", I'd heard it many times before but never with a widower's ear. Took on a whole other meaning after that.

I never thought that I would outlive my husband of 48 yrs. I lost him 6 yrs ago to cancer but this sure came to be special to me. He has come to me since - I've felt his hand on my shoulder and one day he was sitting in his chair and we talked and talked, I went to take his hand, and my hand went right through his. We could easily have done another 48 yrs. I asked him if I could go with him when he was near the end. He said "No. You still have so much to do. I'll be there when it's your turn and show you all the beauty on the other side." So - it's taken awhile but I've learned to deal with it; knowing he's there, watching over me and waiting for me. He is the love of my life and every morning he'd wake before me, watch me, and when I woke, said "Good morning beautiful".

I lost my husband and soulmate unexpectedly Jan 2015. He was never sick a day in his life and was strong as an ox! He said he loved me every day, but more importantly, he SHOWED me every single day. 💞 We had almost a fairytale kind of love. Our life was far from perfect, but our love held strong. We suffered through the loss of our 18 yr old son and both of his parents, but having such a strong bond of love & support is what got us through. My husband actually passed at 4 am on my son's birthday! 💔 Though it's been over 8 years now, I still feel "married" and couldn't imagine seeing someone else. It almost feels unfair to whoever the new guy would be! I experienced pure, unconditional love and, honestly, that is enough to last until I see him again. 👍 I saw a meme online that says it perfectly. "I'm not a widow; I'm a wife. My husband awaits me on the other side." 😘

Love for the ones that are still here needs to be spoken aloud daily! I love you is the last thing we say when the phone call is done or walking out the door!! My 17 yr old son and I just say “More”! We would tell each other “I love you more’”! We both want to get the last word said.

IMO, we all have moments in our lives when the news of a loved one (family member/friend) passes away and all we can do is keep those memories ALIVE by celebrating their life each and every day! To all of my brothers and sisters who have come into my life thank you for the opportunity to share this life with you! Till we see each other again! No good byes🎉

9/26/2021 - I lived these emotions as I lost my husband of nearly 30 years to COVID. He was in ICU for a month before he passed. Still reeling from the loss of his life, our life, our plans. Touches my heart.

I have always loved Garth Brooks, but like many others, it took losing my son to a drunk driver in 1996 to get the full effect. It has taken me years to be able to listen to it with crying. Thanks for what you do.

My husband used to sing this to me. It was our special song....then tomorrow didn't come. He passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was intubated and sedated. I never got to hear him tell me bye. I'm crying and you haven't even played the song yet! Lol
