@@bjspeck4337 I am very lucky that I had him and my first foster dad. My step dad got with my mom when I was 14 and still in foster care. He did everything that the DCS wanted him to. I was returned back two months from 18th birthday. The youngest of my siblings. Found out later that we shouldn't have been gone so long. So glad that you and your mom found a wonderful man who wanted you and your brother. It's cause of our step dad that my eldest brother is now being a dad to his son and the eldest brother. He doesn't treat him any different than he has ever treated my eldest daughter whose 17 now. My brother didn't want to ever have children cause of the abuse our father did. He was worried about being like him. Him and I talked about it when he found out that his girlfriend was pregnant. I asked him what would our step dad say to him. He responded that he has been there for my eldest. He listed more positive points. I said their you go. It's everything he would say and much more.

I saw Garth Brooks at one of his first appearances at the Grand Ole Opry in the early nineties. At the time, I had no idea who he was, but when they announced his name, dozens of young women rushed the stage. Then he started in on the first few notes of "Friends in Low Places" and I thought...OH...THAT guy! Yeah, Garth is HUGE in the states.

Many years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I had to have surgery and undergo Chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Fortunately, all those treatments were successful and I have been cancer free for about nine years and as far as I know I am totally healthy now. I was talking to my brother who I don't see very often because he lives in another state and when we started to hang up he told me he loved me. I called my niece, his daughter, and asked her if her dad thought my cancer had come back and maybe I was dying. She said he did not think that as far as she knew and I told her the reason I asked was that he had told me he loved me, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!, and I thought maybe he thought I was dying. I should say that his actions have always said he loved me but he had never actually said the words. I had to laugh when I heard this song just now because it reminded me of when my brother made sure I knew he loved me. It was nice hearing the words but honestly it means more to me that his actions have always told me how he feels about me.

I've been privilaged to see this man live 3 times in Ireland. He gets me everytime. The 1st was in 1994 in the then Point theatre. It was truly incredible. He is bigger in Ireland than the US. A few years ago he sold out Croke Park for 6 nights 90k per night. Ireland has a population of 5m. That is approx 10% of the population. It was controversially cancelled due to objections. But we still love him. I've actually recorded this myself. Of the over 50 concerts I've been to, Brooks, hands down, is the best performer and value for money you'll get. Michael Jackson is a close 2nd.

This was released in 1989 as the second single from his self titled album Garth Brooks. It was Number 1 on the Billboard Country Music charts and has become his signature song. It a song about Father thinking about his daughter and if he died would she know how much he loved her. Absolutely beautiful. The beautiful soft guitar solo leading up to the orchestral accompaniment in this song, just soul grabbing. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Blue Eyed Kansan. I had a little laugh when you stated "An Older Man" sings it. In 1989 when this is from Garth were 27 years old. Ronan Keating were 25 when he sang it in 2002. By the way, Ronan Keating has made collabortion with the Bee Gees. He sang a song they wrote for him called "Lovers and Friends". It was recorded in 1999 but first released on an album in 2005. It was on the Bee Gees 2005 album called "Love Songs" and only on the UK/Japan version.

Only the Beatles have sold more albums than Garth Brooks in the USA (183M to 157M). Elvis is third with 139M.

Garth Brooks is close to the same age here as Ronan Keating was when he sang it. Ronan Keating sang it in 2002 when he was 25; Garth sang it in 1988 when he was 28

Even now when he's on tour he does at least 2 concerts every place,he's that popular, although back in the day Elvis an other artists were regularly screwed over by record companies on amount of records sold so Elvis probably number one seller here an still sells another every year

Saw Garth Brooks in Edmonton, Alberta 🇨🇦 recently… the man can sing and is full of energy, an almost 3 hour show where his wife also came out and sang. Trish Yearwood.

Thunder Rolls… it was a controversial music video he did. It was actually taken off of CMT due to acts of domestic violence that were portrayed, but something that wasn’t talked about then like it is today. We’ve made progress, but still so much more to go. Garth Brooks is one of the all-time greats! Standing Outside the Fire is another one of my favorites from him!
