IMHO, Gary Moore is the greatest guitar player that ever lived and this is the greatest guitar performance ever recorded. Every note is impeccably selected whether it's a slow part or his lightening speed riffs. This is flawless! I've been a musician for 60 years and I've seen many of the greats live including Jimi Hendrix, BB Kind, Jeff Beck and many, many more and Gary was in a class by himself.

Yes he is one of the great guitarists, but this is a cover and the original has lyrics which come between a beginning and end. Roy Buchanan’s original work has deep significance and the key motives are admirably echoed by Gary but without the lyrics the title is meaningless and the whole beauty of the piece just becomes one guitarist’s skill.

The guitar deserves an honorable mention too, it’s got a history. It’s name is Greeny. Greeny is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, named after its original owner, Peter Green. He used it during his time in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac, before selling it to Gary Moore in the early 1970s. Moore used the guitar throughout his career, both as a solo artist and in bands, such as Thin Lizzy. In 2014, Greeny was acquired by Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett, who has since used it both in the studio and during live performances.

No one will ever play with more fire, emotion and feeling than Gary Moore. Saw him loads of times live. Always gave 100 pst and then some. Could play anything, from jazz/fusion with Collusseum II to hard rock with Thin Lizzy and everything between and beyond. Best guitarist ever.

Gary was not just a Blues guitarist. He kinda started of that way when he started playing and definitely was it in his later years since this year 1990 where this video is from, but he did many styles and was many years a Rock guitarist. There were mentioned a lot of his blues tracks already, and I just want to add “Separate Ways” here live 1992 in London (absolute mind blowing and jaw dropping double intro in that one), but I want to mention at least one of his best rock performances, which for me is “Empty Rooms” live in Stockholm 1987, a beautiful piece of music!! There’s also “Thunder rising”, “Military Man”, “Over the Hills and far away” and “All messed up” from the same concert, and many others! Enjoy the ride! Oh, and this guitar here is very special and very famous, she’s called “Greeny” and got it from Peter Greene when he was about 15 or 16! Currently it’s proudly in the hands of Kirk Hammett from Metallica!

For me “Empty Rooms” from We Want Moore live album is a better version than the Stockholm one. I feel that tour suffered from his use of Charvel guitars which have a rather harsh tone.

Another guitar great that is worth checking out is Rory Gallagher. I recommend his song Shadow Play live 1979 or Do You Read Me live 1979. He is less heard of but right up there with SRV as far as guitar talent goes.

You know, I've watched MANY reaction videos. The first thing I look for is do these people appear authentic, and y'all passed my sniff test. I honestly subscribe to a few reaction channels but you've got a new subscriber now. Thanks for getting it with Gary Moore. He's been a favorite guitarist of mine since first him play 🎸

Gary Moore was a great guitarist for Thin Lizzy. Sadly he died due to drinking too much and choking to death. I love listen to anything he plays.
