Gary Moore( also in my opinion ) is the greatest and most talented guitarist of all time and especially as a blues guitarist. I'm sure you've seen some of his blues concerts on KZfaq,the way he bends them strings and never misses a beat not to mention his speed and clarity are flawless. Their will never be another guitarist as skilled as Gary Moore their maybe are some that are close but if you really understand his skills then you would think the same. I know that all great guitarist are really skilled in there own way and saying one is greater then the other is kinda B S but in my opinion Gary Moore is the pick for me.

What a great video, those guitars looked so cool. I hope Gary's son has been able to find and reacquire most of his dad's guitars. It's a shame that Gary had to sell Pete Green's '59. Well, hopefully, one day Gary's son will have that back also but that's going to be a stretch considering the money involved. Fantastic video, RIP Gary Moore!

+urilacambrafrias Yes, they did collector choice #1 which is the first guitar in this demo. I am talking about about the second les paul, the one that doesn´t have pickup covers. That guitar is called "stripe" and was Gary´s number one
@urilacambrafrias
@urilacambrafrias 8 жыл бұрын
+Felipe Vega Which, in fact, is the same axe. Thd one Greeny gave Gary at the beggining of his career, the one that he recorded almost all his records. Pickups are out of phase 'causeGreeny put them that way, and the cover was removed by Gary at some point. #1 is a copy of that one but with covers just like in the front cover of Stoll got the blues. Cheers!
@felipevegar1
@felipevegar1 8 жыл бұрын
+urilacambrafrias Gary had 2 bursts. You are talking about the Peter Green/Gary Moore guitar. And yes gibson made a reissue of that guitar. Back in the 80´s, Gary had a car accident and carried the guitar with him the neck was broken, Gary got another 59 les paul "stripe" and that guitar stayed with him until he passed away.

Hello there.Brings back memories as I worked with and for Gary for a few years prior to his Blues Success.I remember well the Les Paul accident because I was driving the car en route to a little Studio in Harmonsworth where the demo for ''Out In The Fields'' was recorded.We were stationary at Chiswick traffic lights in monsoon conditions when a fortunately unloaded brick lorry skidded into the back of the car and pushed us under the back of another lorry ahead of us.The treasured Peter Green Les Paul neck was beautifully repaired by CHANDLER guitars.In truth there is quite a story behind this guitar and how Gary came to ''have'' it.There was also a wonderful sounding original late 50's early 60's ex Tommy Steele's guitarist salmon pink Stratocaster which I procured originally for Greg Lake which Gary ended up with.We had local radio coming through the amps in USA so maybe this is the one which was stripped.I also procured a Les Paul Junior which was ex Titch from Dave Dee,Dozy,Mick days.Gary was an absolutely gifted amazing player which goes without saying.Sadly missed. JP

+Shotaway Films Lovely story. They still have the pink Strat which, very weirdly, I worked on when Greg owned it.
@ShotawayFilms
@ShotawayFilms 8 жыл бұрын
+Neville Marten Hello Neville.There were two pink strats as I procured two for Greg.Gary had the first one and just unable to recall where I found the other one which Greg kept and used during his solo projects.This all happened in the early 80's.My friendship with Gary followed an overdub session he did in Abbey Road using the infamous Peter Green Les Paul.Let's just say he totally nailed it and all present. This prompted his eventual release from a contract with one Mr Arden.
@nevillemarten1697
@nevillemarten1697 8 жыл бұрын
+Shotaway Films Ha ha. Oh yes... the infamous DA. It did a bit of work on Greg's pink one in about 82 I'd guess; and a J-200 that had a jack socket installed in the side and had split because whoever did it didn't add any support. We had to do a quick bodge job just to get it back to him that night. But Gary's pink one was amazing, and is currently in Fender's Custom Shop where they are copying it for a special reissue...
@ShotawayFilms
@ShotawayFilms 8 жыл бұрын
+Neville Marten Good to hear the fender is still alive and well.Not sure how old it actually is.When I found it there were finger nail grooves in the fretboard and the frets were well worn from constant rhythm playing I guess.Think a guy name of Terry Haselden who then had a local guitar shop in Dorset fixed it up for Gary. Terry also arranged a sponsorship deal with Dean Markley strings back then.Seems like yesterday but of course over 30 years have passed.Gary used the pink fender a lot in the studio sessions and some live shows during early days of his solo career.

Man , it breaks my heart , he’s really gone , I could have seen him back in the day , this was not with “thin lizzy” but he was out on his name , and I was doing something that I couldn’t miss ,but later heard him , and was truly sorry , I missed him . He was without a doubt , one of the most expressive guitarist , that I never saw , and I was deeply saddened by his untimely death ! What I felt most was that he left way too soon , because ,he had issues with drugs and booze , that’s killed a lot of my close friends too . I miss his playing though ! There will probably never , be another !

That original '59 is just spectacular. The wear on it is as honest as you can get. Do you realize how much playing you would have to do to wear away the finish on the body with just your fingertips resting on it? How long it would take to get all the finish off the neck? Like Martin stated, a few million notes flowed out of Gary in through that guitar. I would wager it would fetch as much as Bernie's '59 (The Beast) or maybe more

I paid 400$, I think its worth 350$ today, the guitar is an absolute gem, played daily. Not for sale at any price. Gary is one of the best, Fleetwood , Santana, great riffs, solos rhythm, you name it.

I went to Chris Kinman's "factory" at Moorooka in 2002 and had some Hank Marvin AVn pickups installed in my Kinman Blueprint Strat. John, who did the work for me, said that he filled orders in his first week there for Jeff Beck, Dave Gilmour and Gary Moore. Perhaps he actually wound those pickups in the refinished Strat! Does that make me famous too? I guess not...
