That's just a thing Roy Keane and that Manchester United era of players instilled in each other. Your opposition aren't your friends, they are the enemy. You go out onto the pitch with your teammates as your brothers in arms per say. No one else matters.

That's why Keane got so irritated when he saw Mancs and Scousers hugging each others (the non British players) in the tunnel before the biggest game in the EPL. I completely agree with him, I just don't understand how professional players would do such a thing in that context.. Man, I seriously miss this time when football was played by passionate players that would die on the field for their team and their supporters with that fighting spirit. Especially these heated verbal clashes in the tunnel before an important game (like Arsenal against Man Utd back in the day).

The one with Schmeichel was because he felt he let United down when he came back to England. Between Schmeichel and VDS United struggled for a GK. He left United to go abroad coz he couldn't handle the pressures and demand of United with his injured back but then he came back and went to Aston Villa then City. Neville said he could've stayed at United.

I'm not buying that. Playing up to for the camera, I get that. But Gary was standing there first and Phil walks up, says nothing, and stands back a bit from him. Besides, they are pros. If you're not going to pull out from a tackle against your brother during the match, why show any respect before. That's for after the match.
