Saying that people should believe in NFTs because “15 years ago people were skeptical of social media and now look how big social media is” is the worst argument ever. You could make that argument for anything digital it doesn’t mean it’s true. “This other internet thing was successful, so this one has to be successful too!”. What a disingenuous thing to preach to a young impressionable audience, who btw will be the ones holding the bag if NFTs become worthless. "It's not on the Internet, cause its an NFT and stored on the blockchain" LOL BET. The contract for the NFT buys you...a URL. The URL links to a dark-web server and gives you access to that server and your JPEG. LOL Because hosting a file on a blockchain is not possible with such large files. At no point do you own anything but whatever is stored on that server with your specific URL. Which if someone changes the hosted file or just links to the same hosted file, your NFT becomes simply worthless. Look up NFT Bay and the whole project is about this misconception that you buy a jpeg vs the URL which is the actual receivable.

His last story about selling his baseball cards sums up my whole vibe from him. He puts his money into something and gets out before the market drops. Its a great financial move for him and early adopters, but someone is always left holding the bag. Same is going to be true with the NFTs. He's going to sell and move on to the next hustle and someone is going to be the proud owner of a digital picture of a squirrel with a taco up its ass.
@LestersB2 жыл бұрын
every market crashes, that's normal. Gary was smart enough to realize the market was gonna crash for baseball cards to reinvest elsewhere. But if someone held onto the basecall cards from the 1980-1990s and still have them, they are worth 1000% more now than they ever were before. Yea it’s like the internet bubble. So many inflated companies scamming people who didint know wat they were getting into. Lol imagine buying into a scam Internet service (like apple, Microsoft, later Uber Netflix). Poor suckers of the early 2000s I’d rather stuff half my money under my mattress and the other half in real cardboard picture cards which have so much more value because i can put it in a box. And another 10% of my money in a .0000000005% ultra high Yield savings. Yea I’m a smart guy

An NFT is akin to a car's pink slip or the deed to a house. It's not the actual item but proof of ownership. The NFT isn't the JPEG, it's just your ownership proof of the JPEG. But what if the server hosting your JPEG goes down? What will you do when the game or metaverse you bought your NFT for is no longer running? This is why GaryVee states that *99% of NFT projects will fail* because they have no utility and run on hype.
@NicodemusT2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but how is this different than buying Gran Turismo 7? NFTs - if used as a form of DRM - would be far more open for the consumer. The truth is, the idea of NFT has always been here, it's just never been something the average person could access. The public don't have access to DRM's codebases. In some cases DRM has installed backdoor software, and yet we all accept it if it means we get to play some hyped game.
@ryanguerrero23272 жыл бұрын

Listening to Gary discuss his perspectives on life, reminds me of Dale Carnegie’s “How to win friends and influence people” book. This guy has always given me very greasy vibes. It's perhaps just the salesmen in him, but I've tried and my brain keeps sounding alarm bells when I hear him talk. I just don't feel he's super genuine. I think he weaves a lot of stories, which leaves me feeling like he'd do or say whatever he needed in any given situation to satisfy his means. With zero regard for anyone else. If I entered a conversation with him I feel like I'd have to be on guard the whole time, cause I can't be sure what his intentions are. I just don't trust him and that makes taking any of his advice near impossible for me. But, he does seems to help others and offer some solid advice for whatever they are pursuing. Genuinely, good for them. There's somethin there obviously, it just ain't for me. Interesting character for sure. 🙂

yeah because its hard to explain. its like travel in time and show a iphone to a caveman ... how would you explain it in 1 sentence? u would need 10 000 sentences. same as nfts. let me give u 1 example of an nft. a guy has a farm. he wants to plat strawberrys but he doesent have the money. he makes his land in 100 nfts. divided in 1% per nft. uses that money to buy everything he needs and when he start making profit everyone gets 1% of profit (people around the world tha own the nfts) of sales per nft they own. and now the best part: that is written on the nfts, so the nft by it self calculates his share and comunicates with the farm so the farm account tells the nft how much sales did it make that day and it can be trasffered using the nft to the users account automatically.. and if u set it up once it works for the next 100 years utomatic..no human needed ever again to calcualte the profits. and if he buys another nft then automatically he starts getting double. its insane new technology. only question not what can nfts do it is what will we humans do now???

Yeah and he's correct. When there is a new thing people don't understand they will just hate on it instead of try to educate themselves. Most people who hate on NFTs and crypto doesn't even understand it. But seeing all these ridiculous wack NFT projects and crypto scams I understand why they are hating. But if you educated yourself on the potential behind the tech and fully understood it I don't think you would hate on it that much.
