From their 1979 Thames Xmas special - this shows that they didnt need the BBC to still turn-out quality laughs. A shame that these Thames ITV shows never get repeated and yet the BBC rightly celebrate these 2 comedy legends every Xmas with their material.
Well worth picking up the boxset on Amazon to enjoy long lost (to viewers) sketches and musical routines that still hold-up more than enough today:

To watch this rarely seen piece of comedic brilliance is to remember with fondness the best double act ever.Ernie passed away 25 years ago yesterday so felt it was good to watch this again.What a treat😂😂😂😂❤❤

I worked on this!!!! i was the paws of the Irish wolfhound at the end, the head operated by the late John Thirtle. I have the rehearsal pic taken by Tv Times, on my Facebook page. We also did the wolfhound on the 1978 Xmas Special too!

How fantastic with great memories.. What great fun Eric and Ernie and all their production team have left us we are still enjoying today... I had an Irish wolf hound called Tara.. She was a grey brindle. With massive paws...looks like she got poor Eric..opps Sylvester.. many thanks for sharing.. Been playing on repeat....👇......♥️♥️♥️

Sadly this little nugget of comedy was a rarity in the Thames Television era of their career. They re-hashed around 70% of their BBC material when the came to Thames. Eric's son Gary said that you had to trawl through a lot of crap in the Thames shows to get to these nuggets of great comedy.

The thing I loved most about sketches like these, was it gave Ernie a chance to really shine comedically, instead of just being Eric's "straight man". Both Eric and Ernie were hilarious in these types of sketches. xD

It doesn't - none of Eric and Ernie's Christmas shows, either on the BBC or at Thames had really much to do about Christmas. Eric said, if you want Christmas with bells on, Santa, reindeer, carol singers etc, watch the Two Ronnies, he felt they were great at that. Eric and Ernie were about the best comedy.
