I finally finished my gates for our Gaslands Deathrace games. I stuck with the wasteland theme so they'll fit in with the rest of my wasteland terrain. I used a bunch of old techniques and same new ones. A lot of these will carry over into other war games as well.

Yeah I've used LEDs in that past for other things. I've noticed the batteries tend to die between playing and I'm terrible with replacing them so just don't do them much anymore. I bet yours look great, feel free to tag me on IG or FB so I can take a look.

Finally finished my gates. No bullet holes were added to my START gate. Most of the action happens at the later gates and Finish gate where most of the bullets wind up. I had to sand flat on one side of my yellow blade knife to keep it from wobbling while cutting thin masking tape strips. great idea btw.

Oh. Oh, good. Just finished building my race gates, and then I see this video with way better techniques to make way better gates. Now I've gotta make a whole new set. Great.

Roflmao..,.Ain't that just the way it always goes? I've got some other plans in the works, with different themes, maybe some miazaki themed terrain. There's always room for more! Thanks for the kind words and happy crafting!

Right on. I've seen some folks do some sick weathering with it, just getting my feet wet. I'll be doing more of it in the future.

I put forward the argument that you know which way to go through the gate because one side says gate, and the other does not. 😉 That said, the gates look amazing 👍👍

I'm working on your gates right now. I couldn't find a gate I really liked until I found yours and they are awesome. Full length Clip board bases 11 7/8" long The Gantry towers are 9" apart outside width. The start sign was a thin piece of aluminum a little thicker than a soda can. I embossed the letters for a deep hammered look. I didn't want to glue the sign, so I hung it with Micro chain. I want to switch signs out. Next one will be with wood burner.
@m3verse
@m3verse 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Sounds like your gates are going to be pretty epic! I like the idea of switching out signs, good thinking. Thanks for the input!
@JERRYR708

Took me 5 days just to complete the "START" gate. Most time was spent searching for tools, trips to store for material, jigs, and trial and error. The next gates should go easier and quicker. If it was on your game table, it would blend right in. Thanks for the great How-To video. BTW I had to put clamps around the base ends after applying paint, washes, superglue coat and sealer. Otherwise you end up with a rocking horse for a gate.
@m3verse
@m3verse 2 жыл бұрын
I put mine together over a few weeks. Definitely not an easy afternoon craft. I only had one of the bases warp on me, I just put a coat of white glue on the underside and it pulled it back into place as it dried. Glad you're enjoying the build!
@JERRYR708

@@m3verse White glue on the bottom base is a great idea. I'm applying glue straight away before the humidity refreshes the memory of its former rocking horse. Thanks for the tip.
