Just one minor correction. In the video you had mentioned that the endoderm is derived from the hypoblast. Per the book "The Developing Human" on Clinical Key, it states that the hypoblast only gives rise to the extra-embryonic mesoderm (in the second week). All 3 of the layers (ecto/meso/endo-derms) are derived from the epiblast cells differentiating as such. Good lecture though, just trying to keep the more medically oriented folks on track. Cheers.

Amazing video! But I'd like to suggest a correction: To my knowledge, the trophoblasts differentiate into cytotrophoblasts and syncytiotrophoblasts while the embryoblasts differentiate into epiblasts and hypoblasts So in short: The structure of the blastocyst: 1. Outer cells: trophoblasts. 2. Inner cells: embryoblasts. Trophoblast mediates the implantation, and will develop into placenta. Embryoblast gives the body of the embryo

Ive read in some texts that its the differentiation of the epiblast cells that give rise to the 3 germ layers, and that the hypoblast is primarily responsible for creating a lining that forms the yolk sac, but in the video you mention that the hypoblast gives rise to the endoderm as well. Is there any to help clarify this for me a little? It also states that the endodermal cells from the epiblast essentially replace some of the cells in the hypoblast layer.
@hardik79428 ай бұрын
Epiblast diffrentiate into intraembryonic endoderm mesoderm ectoderm, these make up diff organs in our body. Meanwhile hypoblast cell layer is pushed away, replaced by incoming proliferating endorderm layer. Hypoblast will however proliferate into extraembryonic mesoderm and endoderm. These make up chorion amnion etc

This was a bit confusing because it looks like the epiblasts also form the extraembryonic mesoderm, but it's actually limited to the intraembryonic mesoderm while the hypoblasts already formed the extraembryonic mesoderm before the primitive streak develops.

Very good video! But I learned two things different: 1. The Epiblast forms all three germ-layers 2. The extraembrionic Mesoderm that goes around the chorionic cavity is formed by the Hypoblast in an earlier stage
@johnatere6 жыл бұрын
That is incorrect. The Hypoblast in the Pre-embryonic stage forms the Extraembryonic Endoderm also known as Heuser's Membrane.

The first germ layer to form is the endoderm, but it's formed from the epiblast by migration from the primitive streak towards the hypoblast; only afterwards the mesoderm. Hypoblast only gives rise to extraembryonic endoderm

@CP-gd4sf5 жыл бұрын
i feel like this needs to be clarified : during invagination the primitive streak is formed and then the primitive node. during this time the epiblast cells migrate cranially(towards head) and as this occurs the epiblast cells detach from the epiblast layer slip under it and into the interior of the embryo. from this point the first of these cells to invaginate invade the hypoblast layer and displace that layer of cells on top with the definitve ectoderm cell layer forming the ectoderm , the cells that remain inbetween become the mesoderm and the remainder of the epiblast cells become the endoderm. so technically the hypoblast does not become the ectoderm. hope this helps
