Um, no? We hung around alligators all this past week in the Everglades. They’re cool, just respect them and don’t swim in their waters or get too close. They’re not going to “sneak up on people”. This alligator wanted the fish, not the man. If they snuck up on anyone it’s because that person got too close for their comfort.

40 years ago my cousins swam the Hillsborough River with little regard for gators because mostly they stayed away from people. @litigatorcoachd93332 жыл бұрын
Interesting that the "aggressive lunge" is not actually shown on camera. The earlier approaches by gators in the water were not directed at the human. Beside being naturally curious, gators are attracted by motion and by ripples in the water, which they can home in on thanks to pressure sensors in their lower jaws. Moreover, gators learn from experience, so if this hole had been fished before (as one might suspect), these gators may well have learned that fish are available from that lure moving across the surface. (I have observed gators chasing fishing lures many times myself.) By no means does this video support the assertion in the title that a gator tried to eat a fisherman. Gators are normally wary of and avoid humans unless they have been fed (which, BTW, is illegal).
@austin84397 жыл бұрын
Gators love top water. That's why they started coming closer when you started fishing with it. Then they seen the bass and were upset. If you're using topwater and gators come close just change spots. It's illegal to try to catch them in Florida

It's been DECADES for me, but I'll bet the fish haven't changed much: Tiny Torpedo, cast lengthwise along the bank, preferably where there are reeds along the shoreline. I learned to click the bail over BEFORE the lure hit the water, because they would often strike AS SOON AS it HIT the water. If THAT doesn't happen, just start giving it some short little twitches as you reel it in : )

What are some tips for getting good accuracy on a cast with a baitcasting reel and good distance without getting a backlash. I just started learning how to use a baitcaster and can only cast about 60 ft without backlashing. Anything would be helpful. Thanks!!
@martinmaddox53152 жыл бұрын
Try first practicing with a casting plug or a heavy lure. Some very small lures and small baits are almost impossible to cast with a bait caster. After practice you will be able to cast bass size lures with more accuracy and father than a spinning reel. I assume you are applying light pressure, amount to let lure travel but not let spool outrun the line coming out, with more pressure of thumb as lure approaches the landing area.
