Is anyone still making games like this? Obviously the Gauntlet series itself has gone in a fairly different direction lately but if some indie developer has done something that would be great to know. Lots of good times with these games, would love to have more.

I enjoyed revisiting Dark Legacy but the bugs on the Gamecube version ruined it for me and I wasn't able to finish. There's the invisible inventory bug and there's also a bug where changing your character or colour at any point removes all of your purchased stats.

Watching this game got me so nostalgic from when I was a kid, playing with my family and failing to beat more than the first two worlds... but the commentary and runner really made this a fun run. "Remember, keep playing." Is such a lovely sentiment to end on, don't you think?

Give thanks to EZScape. From what I understand he basically wanted to help improve GDQ events and volunteered at this one for video editing given the issues they've had with it. Pretty cool.

Was worried about this when I saw it in the schedule, since I knew about the time stop and thought it would be kind of a repetitive run. The good commentary helped make it much better than I expected. Props to Boyo for his effort.

I played this and Dark Legacy a lot in my childhood, with my brother, before his mental condition worsened... Watching this is a rather bittersweet experience. I had no idea something like the hourglass glitch even existed!

This game was my childhood. What a great speedrun and the commentary was so nice! I really really love this game. I still have it to this day. One day I want to play through the whole thing myself! I wish they'd make it for pc one day because this game has always been in my distant memories. Love it always!

I played the living hell out of the N64 version of this, and overall I think I enjoyed it more than Dark Legacy. In the latter game it felt like they added too many different types of things to collect to unlock the realms.

I only really played the arcade and playstation version of this, heavily preferred the arcade, tbh the item system here begs to be abused, and undermines the power creep, and the time stop glitch just makes this another game all together. all the same, good run. thank you for destroying a bastardized version of one of my favorite games!

This game and genre needs a remake and overhaul.. it's too damn good. A true treasure from the days when games were made for fun, rather than focusing on how much money they can squeeze out of players. Cliche or not, they REALLY don't make games the way they used to.

One of my favorite memories of Gauntlet was asking myself 'how high of a level can I get off the very 1st level?' Ended up with a fresh character solo being around 26 or 27 by the time I hit the exit portal

Your best bet is to join their discord and to watch runs. Their discord is for the entire Gauntlet series. You can find it by looking up any of the games on Speedrun.com and clicking the Discord link there. Not a lot of resources currently exist, and anybody with some coding knowledge would probably do a ton of good for the run itself. Either way, I just joined the server, you should join as well if you'd like to learn more.

I know without it, it added loading screens between some levels instead of it being connected smoothly.

The main reason is to reduce lag to make the game run smoother, the other reason manipulate the "Silver Chest". This Silver Chest is a chest that is on a timer. If you open it at say 30 seconds, you will always receive the same item. For some reason the Expansion pack changes the item. So if you have the expansion pack and open the chest in Realm 1 Level 4 at 47 seconds, you will receive a Thunder Hammer, however without the expansion pack you will receive something else instead. Getting certain items is important because they can be sold off to buy other useful items we need to either run faster or fight bosses more efficiently.

Theres apparently two Dougs with the last name Lawrence, understandable mistake. No worries. :) The one in this game sadly didn't do that much voice work just a chorus to a 80's animated musical that Hana Barbara did, then this and it's update.
