WOOO! So you met Epica when they were being soft. And now you've heard Essence of Silence and Universal Death Squad, Epica going *ham*! Listen, Nightwish is all good and stuff and Floor is the best female singer in the world (Dutch pride, yeah!) but personally? I like my symphonic metal with a bit more balls. I've seen Epica 13 times live, and that's nowhere near enough. Glad you like them!

Not choosing, only like Epica better. NW is a greate band, nothing wrong with them. Everybody can't be nr1. Happens to be epica for me 😃. Lots of people that Pic NW as NR 1 and I understand that 😄. We have all difrent taste.

Nightwish will always have a special place in my heart. The music is like a dream, or if you open a story book. Epica, on the other hand, is more aggressive and the lyrics are more of the eye-opening, making you think kind and it's made them my favourite band. Also, I love that they are so active, putting out albums around every two years and being so prolific in touring. (The wait for the new albums, both from Nightwish and Epica, is killing me!)

And speaking about the angelic mixed with the heavy...I dunno ...theres something in that Western- North Wesrer european blood and drinking water that just helps raise such amazing artistry: Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Delain, Amaranthe, Frozen Crown. Oh my, I loved your reaction, hehe. If you want the heaviest song by Epica, it's definitely Ascension (Dream State Armaggedon). Their most progressive one is Kingdom of Heaven (pure masterpiece that you just HAVE to check out one day) Also, they did a cover of Fear Factory - Replica! It's too awesome for words! They also covered some of Attack On Titan openings and songs (I only know the first opening, so I'm not sure if what I said is correct, sorry AOT fans) and it's just... too much awesomeness. There's also this cover called Nothing's Wrong, but I don't remember the name of the original artist. And, last cover they did is a song by PowerWolf - Sacred and Wild

While I do agree that Ascencion (Dream State Armageddon is a heavy one, I have to disagree with you saying it's the heaviest song. For me, it's Semblance of Liberty from DYU. That song is something else.
