I imagine Sparda told Vergil something similar to the “might controls everything” monologue, and then Vergil (who is like 8 years old at the time) takes all the wrong meanings from that lesson. Nero, who doesn’t know his own father, learns that same lesson on his own and interprets the right message, become strong to protect those who aren’t. That’s also one of the reasons why I think that Sparda was closer in personality to Nero, rather than Vergil or Dante. That, and because Nero was already supposed to be a combination of Vergil and Dante anyway, which is what Sparda is. Like grandfather, like grandson, I guess?

@@peacechan4500 Well, not really. Vergil thirst for power was caused by trauma; he was powerless to protect his mother when he was a child. From the day their parents were taken from them, he sworn to never be weak/powerless again. He'll do whatever it takes, even if it means to enslave the inhabitants of both Demon World and Human World.

Well, is the ussual brothers quarrel... dante is stronger in physical, and demonical powers... Vergil is stronger on magical powers, and have faster reflexes

There's also a theory that says Vergil may have let dante win that last duel, because he didn't use yamato a weapon which he can use way faster and would've struck dante easier, but instead used the force edge a weapon type that's more similar to what dante is used to and have an obviou advantage.

(at least the vergil's half) Dante's power were still sealed, until DMC 2 were he liberates all his powers... and then. Remember the game chronollogy DMC, DMC 3, DMC 1, DMC 2, DMC 4, DMC 5

She start with 5. any gravitas 3 story brings is moot when you already know the characters and whats going to happened by the end. More so for Gura, who personally knows the character too well by now with everyone memeing her with Vergil and making fun of her. He even wished her for her Birthday. No one can take the story seriously in her position. Her reaction to the story even with all that is still great when it matters. The best part is from how she went from anti Vergil from all the memeing to finally loving him.

I understand context is important but having only seen this video and these reactions I don't really care about context and will affirm my position that her reaction ruins a good and dramatic moment. also it's pretty stupid to start with the end of a series.
