@dannyman9164 I am so. Sick. Of the "character Is insufferable brat because that's just how teens are lolololol" excuse in media. First of all, this is fiction and characters matter way more than explicit realism. Second, NO. Teenagers do not just inevitably become the worst humans to ever walk the planet at the flip of a switch after 13. Do they have emotional and hormonal changes and stress? Yes. But there's a way to represent this without just making the most infuriating awful and unlikable person known to mankind. Morgan in Disney's Disenchanted is a better example of a "teen angst" phase done well. She doesn't suddenly hate everyone and everything, she's just dealing with stress and growing up and occasionally lashes out. Instead, 99 times out of 100 we get the insufferable brat from the Barbie movie as our "teen angst uwu" in media. Just a bad person with 0 redeeming qualities and a get out of jail free card for the most insane and vile behavior because "teens amiright"

@@drawingdragon She’s behaving like Egon. Egon himself had issues. Remember how he tried to strangle Peck in front of the police in the first film even yelling at him “YOUR MOTHER!!!” Egon also tried to drill a hole in his head. What she told Peck in the new film was accurate. Also remember that Phoebe is already socially awkward and struggles with society. It makes sense that as she becomes a teenager and change in hormones would cause changes in her attitude. Especially since she’s been benched and pretty much tossed aside. She also redeemed herself in the end.

There's a scene in the film where Phoebe and a friend are called in to a diner to bust a ghost that turns out to be the ghost girl just sitting at a booth. I'm a 37/38 year old male who grew up with the franchise, and yeah, it sucks that this movie was disappointing. Afterlife had actual stakes and I was invested in the return of a big villain, although a rehash, it felt like something threatening was looming over the movie to be defeated. I felt emotionally connected to Phoebe's fight to stand up for the reputation of her grandfather, and I was intrigued by the plans Egon put into place. It was lacking in some areas, but a nice, humble, small town reboot to the franchise is just fine for the first one. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire had NO STAKES. Wasn't emotionally connected at all. The opening to this movie was amazing and awesome, that's about it. It's a good movie to throw on in the background if you want some silly jokes and some random "Ghostbustery feels," but not the kind of movie you get excited about. I'm still open to them having an awesome third movie and just forgetting about Frozen Empire. It didn't kill GB for me, it's just boring. My biggest issue with Ghostbusters Afterlife was Phoebe's character. There were a lot of things I could have overlooked, but they never gave her any sort of reality check, and i felt like they had the perfect opportunity; at the end when the family saw Egon's ghost, I thought they should have had him say "Sorry" before he left, and then let Phoebe have to realize that just because you're smart, just because you're right doesn't give you the right to treat your family and friends like shit. Seriously, from House, to Sherlock, to Sheldon, this damn trope needs to die.

I really wanted to enjoy this film more than I did. At least Afterlife has some heart... This one was just BLOATED with memberberries and this wanna be gay relationship. And I totally agree that activities or plot arcs that were given to characters we couldn't care less about should've been given to perhaps the original GBs. I'll probably never watch this again.

You'd think the mayor would be more understanding considering what happened in the first 2 films...not to mention a little property damage is preferable to a vindictive spirit killing everyone and compeltely razing the city to the ground

When the theme song finally played at the climax of the movie and the crowd was filling a lot of the empty spots of the screen is when the energy started picking up, that’s the energy the whole movie should have had,not wait until the very end. The first two movies had that amount of energy, that the ending of this film had, throughout the first two installments. The lack of energy and addition of wokism is what is destroying modern film making. People want to go along for an adventurous ride, not sit in a chair bored, and at worst, bored and cringed.

In another video about this movie, there were people in the comment section actually trying to say the "romance" wasn't there and they were just friends...lol. The "third wheel" comment that Casper the LesbiGhost makes about Podcast (a BOY it seemed Phoebe would have a thing with in the last film) made it pretty clear to me. Risking your life with a crazy experiment that essentially kills you temporarily is not something one does for a "friend" they just met... Just what exactly were they "separated" from doing as friends..? And if you think her saying "Boo" back at her wasn't flirty... You are oblivious. The music and the way they looked like they were about to kiss made it obvious. Pushing this onto kids in any capacity is unacceptable.

So the movie is unrealistic, even for a Ghostbusters movie. What people do and want doesn't make any sense. Also what about the ghosts in other cities? Do they also have Ghostbusters, or are they doomed? 🤷♂
@kwaichangcaine-xu4jh2 ай бұрын
I'm confused. If the Ghostbusters cause a disturbance everytime they Trap a Ghost, Why don't the Police intervene? In this film It's portrayed as something that happens so often that the Cops completely ignore It. So why do they get in trouble all of a sudden for basically just doing their jobs?

@@kwaichangcaine-xu4jhit's more so the manner in how Phoebe went about taking out the ghost. Instead of isolating the ghost in a less populate area to minimize the risk of casualties, she chose to fire randomly causing mass damage and endangering lives. That's why she got into so much trouble. The OG Ghostbusters didn't do that. They contained the threats and treated them with caution even though sometimes the environment was destroyed

You know what really surprises men about this? The idea that people are actually SURPRISED by the creeping 'woke' in this film. How can you be surprised? Hollywood (through u-tube channels like Grace Randolph) has been recently bemoaning the fact that people are rejecting their 'message-heavy' films/books, and saying out loud that the MISTAKE they made was being to OBVIOUS about the message. They then said they would go BACK (yep, they admit they were putting messages in to these IPS for decades in order to SHAPE society) to just HINTING at the message for a while. This brought us to this film. The gay part here is only kind of hinted at, some say you could choose to NOT see it. This film will serve as a warning about how they play to restart the CREEP and slow down the PUSH.
@Billy-bc8pk2 ай бұрын
This, this, this! Somebody here gets it. In fact, you're pointing out something that actually highlights a ton of comments in this very video: a ton of people have chosen NOT to see the gay part. Even though the subtext is clear as day based on the description of the two characters' relationship. It reminds me of Nightmare on Elm Street 2, where you basically had to be completely oblivious to every single social cue and narrative framing trick not to see what the movie was hinting at. But you're right -- back in the day things were subtlely nudged onto the audience, then they went full bore for a while, and now they're back to slowly boiling the frog, and you have plenty of people syaing, "I don't mind... I don't see a problem... it's no big deal". I think that is actually worse yet, because it's cultivating a mindset to normalise Hollywood's intent with little to no pushback.

In the first two Ghostbusters movies, we had three(3) white guys and one(1) black one, all of them very likable and looking like a true TEAM; now, they have been replaced by an unlikable super intelligent girl boss without the support of a real team AND apparently for some people, there is NO woke in this "Frozen Empire" movie ...YEAH RIGHT! 🤦♂😖

I certainly won't be going to see this pile of shit now that I know it has this girl that's the answer to everything is now gay too! - forced gay shit....just put in there because - well, for no reason. Hollywood is shit... As for the gestion of how that Indian thing knew about the tech - he couldn't have but he had to know because the plot needed it to flaunt a gay relationship in the film - that's way more important that a cohesive storyline and writing don't you know?

Youre right about the gay love story part, which is extremely weird how they were pushing that story line while having to tell the audience over and over about the characters age, almost like trying to normalize it, but aside from that and the one line about the Indian guy being a back up date for some guys brother, the movie was enjoyable

I didnt care about the romance part, to me it felt more like: "you are my friend who gets me" I did not like the turning a ghost scene, it felt cheap and not even well thought out. They could have let Melody (controlled) take possession of Phoebe to release Garraka, making Melody feel guilty about it and resume the story of this movie. Skip the whole becoming a ghost part. I found it uncomfortable messaging of "****** yourself is fine"
