The way Madeleine said “my coven is Claudia” is one of my favorite parts of this episode. The tone of her voice when she said that is mesmerizing.

You can tell when Lestat goes off script because Santiago gets either immediately peeved at being 'corrected' or gets thrown off his lines 😂 Also Sam tries to feed them to him/recite them for him.

Don't believe Armand in this scenario. He's 100 percent behind this treachery. Madeleine being the only person to put Claudia first, even in death, is so tragic and endearing. Lestat was everything I needed him to be in this episode. Excellent writing, production design and acting here. As much as I'm looking forward to next week I'm more excited about the news that we're getting a season 3! Love your insights as always.

My main consolation amid the devastation is that finally someone chose CLAUDIA, someone put her first. And that made their final moments all the more poignant.

Every moment in this episode is a masterpiece. Horrible, heartbreaking, poignant. Lestat in his pin striped prison suit. That damn yellow dress. Every word Daniel says. The horrific slides.. Sam guarding Armand allegedly while at the same time imprisoning Louis. Way too many moments to comment on and yes, more questions. Onto the finale and then Season 3!

This was my favorite episode of this season. Sam Reid can act his butt off. The new Claudia has also been fantastic. Bravo!!

in the comments of a different video, some believed that Lestat was being mind controlled somehow. Like if you look closely, his hands are bruised, and the way he walks in some points kind of looked like he was being forced to.

This episode was brutal but incredible. I can't even begin to wrap my mind around what might be coming next week

I know it's obvious to say but the overwhelming maliciousness of this "trial" is so sickening. That they don't even get lines in this play to kill them, props not characters. That they're painted as these racist caricatures of Louis the violent and predatory black man and Claudia the unstable and traitorous abomination to the perfect white victim Lestat. That even when Lestat himself breaks character to say that he did all the same things they did and worse, it means NOTHING to their jury OR their audience, that Claudia accurately pointed out that he gets to break their laws and cry and be sympathetic but she doesn't even get to speak in her own defense, was tortured before she even came on stage. I know that them breaking the laws was just an excuse for their humiliating execution but all of it is so blatantly awful it's hard to stomach. And with all that what ultimately got me to start crying was Madeleine. Claudia has already been primed once again to not be chosen first having had one last reminder that she is nothing but secondary to Louis and Lestat's story and she's anticipating the same with Madeleine. More than anticipating, she told her to do it because she doesn't want her to die! But she's still visibly bracing for it because it's going to hurt her all the same. But Madeleine doesn't. Standing in front of another mob at another sham trial in her life proclaiming her guilty for loving, she chooses Claudia. In the very last minutes of her life Claudia finally gets chosen first over literally everything else. Madeleine you really are the only bītch in this house I respect. Armand: I could not prevent it All of us in unison with our good friend Daniel: He very much could have prevented it Buddy you want this to be a convincing tale and you assigned the role of your jailer to the vampire Sam? Sam? Your soggy playwright who looks like he has the muscle definition of a jellyfish? *I* could take the vampire Sam but it's apparently too much for Mr. 5 centuries of time-stopping mind powers. To grasp onto any positivity I can (like how my tumblr got a shoutout 😊), there's been a part of me that's always felt bad for Delainey Hayles as Claudia since coming into season 2 she would be missing out on doing some of the best Claudia scenes which are her versus Lestat, so this episode gave that final gift on the way out. When he talked about seeing the best of his vampiric self in her and her /laugh/ in that moment? I was like yesssssss. I hope she gets to be dream-Claudia in the future, haunt that narrative forever.

Yeah, I definitely did not get the impression that Lestat ever intended to kill Louis. We were given ways to kill a vampire, and a fall wasn’t one of them. It’s further alluded to in this episode that Lestat snapped and tried to hurt Louis as much as he felt he was hurt. He responded to some violence with even graver violence, and despite the fact he “knew he would be fine” physically, the pain was lasting, and he hurt someone he loved in an irreparable way, and will regret that for the rest of his life.

i just keep thinking that the audience is tricked into assuming that what is happening in dubai is objective, but with louis hallucinating lestat in that scene makes me wonder.. also, goddamn it carol for the fantastic costumes, and goddamn it earle dresner for that particular shot of lestat strutting the walkway in the theatre. i love some good backlighting

There's definitely a script but Lestat will go off it from time to time. 😊 Armand never left the coven , he's not to be trusted.

To be fair I think the modern day Lestat visions are more have returned since learning of mind fuckery and the 70s than that he has been all along... I do believe Armand has Lestat in the basement and he escapes in the end of the finale for us to finally see a real , not someone's story or dream of, Lestat.

You didn't include the scene but Nicky s wording "with a little help *pointed look at Armand*" and then Lestat spending like 100 years buried in the earth-- which the script says was of his own volition, which sure I totally believe /s-- only to then flee Europe and spend the next 100 years terrified to go back and saying the vampires there are cruel and sadistic. SOOO curious about the real story there bc I DO NOT believe Armand saying he just dipped on them like a dad going out for cigs

The only narrative I slightly trust is Claudia’s because she was documenting things as they happened, albeit with an anger fueled bias. Everyone else not so much. I can forgive Louis’ unreliable narrative because his mind has been played with. But Lestat and Armand are just opposite sides of the master manipulator coin.

First of all, Armand is over 500 years old. He is so powerful, why the hell could he not put everyone to sleep, take them out of there? Or at least set vamps on fire??? Sam was blocking him, give me a break. That suit on Lestat, Jesus, he's never looked better & that profile, pretty hot & I'm a lesbian lol No one can script Lestat, he's always going off script. Santiago was pleased when he finally did. A story of love not butchery. Finally, the first look. So Lestat's version is the right one? As far as Claudia's transformation. Holy crap! Armand just sitting there, watching. He was the oldest most powerful vampire there, wtf??? It pissed me off. One of my favorite moments, Lestat moving so fast to the balcony & snarling at that homophobe. Sam Reid's performance was everything, pure brilliance. "I was not worthy of the forgiveness you would grant me." Broke my heart.

Now, I'm wondering if they'll weave in anything of what Armand finally says really happened after Louis was taken away, in his first hand account in the Vampire Armand book.

Louis only saw Lestat in Dubai in that 1 scene. Jesus Christ, the number of people trying to act like Lestat has been there the entire season needs their head checked.

Lestat is still super fucked up, but those scenes do show just how bad his recount is, they both can't be taken at face value. Claudia openly omitted things in her diary, we haven't talked to Lestat in the present day, and Louis's memories are broken in some way. But I feel like people keep forgetting that Daniel was told that he should fear Louis, not Armand. I'm waiting to see how bad that fallout is.

I didn't expect to love Claudia and Madeline so much and it was such a tragic ending

When we see Sam's guarding Armand, we also see (especially in the first shot of him there) that he's holding scythe. The coven is also slow a few times to silence outbursts from Claudia and Louis and Lestat going off-script. What if Armand's achilles tendons were also cut, so he'd be slow enough Sam really could behead him with that scythe? What if the coven was also doing mental battle on Armand? When we see Lestat in S1 make all the soldiers leave the home, he gets a nose bleed. Armand is stronger, but this is a larger building with many more people with heightened emotions. It's believable he couldn't pull the banishment hypnosis trick enough to save all three of them. And if he let Claudia live but not Madeline, Claudia really would throw herself into a fire like Armand told Madeline she eventually would, and that might have been even worse for Louis's mental health. If this happened, would you forgive Armand? I do.

Armand is such a liar. He can literally stop time but he couldn’t prevent this? Sam was holding him prisoner? It took all his strength to save Louis? I call BS! Armand orchestrated this and entire thing, he needed Claudia out of the way. He didn’t want to save her, he wanted her gone permanently. As long as Claudia existed there would be a hold over Louis, he would always I have that attachment to Claudia and could never fully be owned by Armand. If you read the books there are a lot of missing details and Claudia’s death was very different, I won’t spoil anything but I will say that Armand is definitely lying about his role in it. I also don’t believe in any way that it was Armand who is saved Louis, I believe Lestat saved Louis and I believe Lestat was just as much a captive as Louis and Claudia. There were moments where you could tell that Lestat didn’t have full control. How anyone could believe Armand’s account on of events at this point is beyond me. It’s also frustrating how some people still see Lestat as the villain when at this point we’ve seen there’s been a lot of distorted memories and we’ve only heard one side’s extremely unreliable version.

Ngl i didn't give a single f*ck about claudia and madeleine's little honeymoon. Neither did I give a f*ck about their death. But the way claudia's death affected both Louis and Lestat is so devastating and heartbreaking and beautiful. Well at least the little selfish bastard had some use in their narrative and their love story.
