To get the full experience, let me suggest some of my favorites. First, Nothing Else Matters. That’s the one that convinced a producer to ask them to perform with Chicago last November. Next, Halo. Be sure to watch the outro. You’ll learn some about their history and a lot about their heart. (They are a close knit family) Then Hall of the Mountain King. This is a good example of what happens when Layne says “I have a crazy idea” and they let him go with it. There are no words, but the fun story comes across anyway. (Listen as the tempo, style or even the voices change as each item is thrown into the cauldron) Lastly, for even more crazy fun - Drunken Sailor. This one is Geoff’s arrangement and they had so much fun it’s contagious.

Whatever you choose to listen to from VoicePlay you will be amazed. They never disappoint. They are an independent group so not beholden to any recording company, which means they can be as adventurous as the want. This was the first songI saw from them and it blew me away with its harmonies and smooth as honey voices. Geoff, the bass, has women swooning over him. and a few men too. :). And he does sing all the time, according to his wife. With his work for VocePlay and his own channel of low bass covers, he's a busy guy.

You bet I'll be here for the ride. 🙂 I'm curious to see which songs you'll choose to react to, but as they're all great (each one in its own way) I'll just sit here and enjoy the journey 🙂. BTW... If you don't know, Geoff ("Jeff") Castellucci, the bass singer, has his own solo channel where he does "Low bass singer covers", often "cloning" himself in various characters, sometimes with different makeups, costumes, and sure enough voices and character. Well, along with others I will be here all week. That is not one of his songs that goes super low. He has a solo channel that you might choose for one of your weeks. If you do I highly recommend his recent Unshaken, Wicked Game, and I See Fire from Desolation of Smaug since you really like those deep notes. For the upcoming week I’d be thrilled if you did their cover of Nothing Else Matters or as we call it “Metallicapella”. For theatrics I recommend Hoist the Colours or Valhalla Calling, for more beautiful harmonies Bridge Over Troubled Water or Can’t Help Falling in Love, older rock Carry on Wayward Son, newer rock Dream On or In the Air Tonight, Game themes Dragonborn/Skyrim or HALO. They’re all fantastic.

It was originally recorded by American country music artist David Allan Coe for his album of the same name, whose version peaked at number 77 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1981. Anything VoicePlay I love but I love there Friends On The Other Side from Princess And The Frog and Hellfire from Hunchback Of Notre-Dame. I also like there ACA Top 10 stuff.

Okay, here goes! Some unofficial rules for listening to Voiceplay, and some info as well. I just came up with them on my own, but after years of being a Voiceplaya, I've found they're necessary for optimal Voiceplay (and to a degree, Home Free/Geoff Castellucci as well) listening. If you've already got some of them down, know I'm just posting the list, not criticizing your reactor skills! The rules: #1) VERY important! ALWAYS watch to the very end of the video, or at least a ways into the patrons scrolling. Often times it may LOOK like the video has ended, but there's an outro. Also, watching to the end lets you see their awesome cover art. #2) Always leave the closed captions on. Geoff's wife Kathy (who helps with their videos, she also appears in some, such an amazing woman!) has hearing loss, so sometimes there will be little hidden gems in the CC. #3) If you pause a video to speak, rewind it ten seconds before you start it again, to make sure you don't miss anything. #4) Don't look away from the screen, or close your eyes for more than a second, because, again, you might miss a visual gag or clever moment. #5) Don't go into their videos with expectations on what the song will be like, i.e., that it will be the same as the original. These guys put their own spin on things. The only thing to expect, generally, is to be blown away by their sheer talent. #6) Unless you have a REALLY great speaker system with stereo sound, ALWAYS wear good headphones/earbuds with Voiceplay and Geoff. They do amazing little tricks you can only pick up with those hearing devices. Plus, some of Geoff's notes are so low you practically can't hear them without headphones One of the greatest things about Voiceplay is their videos ARE NOT COPYRIGHTED! They want people to enjoy and react to their videos (and sometimes they will watch the reactions themselves)! Oh, and FYI, Voiceplay is: Geoff Castellucci. (Said Jeff Cas-teh-lou-chee) He's the bass, with long hair. He has a solo channel of low bass covers, well worth checking out! His lowest note, currently, is a B0. You can hear it in Voiceplay's "Valhalla Calling." You almost feel it more than you hear it. J. None. The African American fellow with the crooner's voice. He is currently on "reverse leave," he is away from the group singing for the Navy, but frequently does videos with VP when he can. Eli Jacobsen (pronounced El-ee, NOT E-lie!) Tenor rock god. The bald gentelman. Cesar De La Rosa, their newest member. He opened in "Creep." He brings the feels to every performance! And he flirts with the camera, and it flirts right back! Layne Stein, their beatboxer. Sometimes he sings, and it's always a treat to hear his voice. He's also known as The Carrot Lord has another talent you will discover. I won't spoil it, but you can see it in "Warriors," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," and also "Nothing Else Matters." (Yes, Voiceplay did an acappella cover of Metallica.) Glad to see you were blown away by them! As we all were, even those of us who have been their fans for years! M favorite Voiceplay line-up is, with Cesar and J. None. There have been different line-ups through the years, so don't be surprised if the core members' faces change as you go back farther in time. With J. None on a sabbatical of sorts (the Naval Choir asked him to sing with them), they have different guests for each song. But fear not, because they always find the PERFECT guest for each song! I could tell you all sorts of facts and opinions about each member, but I'll let you discover them on your own! Enjoy! I know we will watching you!

Ah, welcome to the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole! Wait'll you get into their "Theater Kids of Acapella" vibe! And you will definitely get more subscribers! If you're okay with it, I'd love to post some rules, for enhanced Voiceplay listening, I've come up with in my years as a Voiceplaya. And the rules also apply to Geoff Castellucci's (the Bass's) solo channel. And to another superb acapella group, Home Free, who are friends with Voiceplay, they have more of a country bent, but both groups cover many genres. Doing Home Free would also help your subscriber count greatly. There are a LOT of Home Fries out there!

Well it was different and OK, but it lost the sultriness of a single singer pouring their heart out. I know Voice play are great at songs, just not this type, my opinion
