Mine lasted just over 3 years (typical -- right outside of warranty). Had the same issues I've heard from so many other people -- made various noises; started to go into defrost mode constantly, and eventually just stopped freezing water. I now have a very, very expensive brick. The sad part is that I absolutely LOVED this unit -- it made the perfect ice and the side tank allowed for easy fill-ups and also a quick visual reference as to when I needed to fill up. Normally I'd just replace it with another unit -- but after reading SO MANY people with near identical issues and noises I have to believe that there are simply manufacturing or design faults with these units... and I hate the thought of having to pay $150 a year for the ice I love (which is what it would average out to if each unit only lasted for just over three years -- assuming you just replaced the base unit and kept your original side tank and accessories). So sad.

Great video. Wifi was confusing out of the box with nothing on label and you made it easy. Thanks.

Hi! Can you share the size dimension of the box please?
@user-ir1ok2jy8l8 ай бұрын
Can you please share a link to the warranty you purchased? Amazon customer service says the 3 year warranty through asurion for the product is $175 and not $99. Thanks in advance

Can the reservoir tank as well as the external tank be filled at the same time to reduce filling of side tank? Great video and also appreciate the short review on the refrigerator. Based upon the review, I know I won't be getting that model refrigerator. Save me a lot of trouble. Thank you.
@PatrickMichael2002Ай бұрын
Yes, you can fill the inside and the outside. But, not really needed. As for the refrigerator, it was an emergency purchase after the compressor went out on the old one and the food inside started to get warm. This was all RC Willey had in stock that was an LG in SS and also counter depth. In the end, we lost all of the food in the fridge and freezer anyway. Still have it. Hate it more and more each day.

@@PatrickMichael2002 sorry to hear about the frig. But I really appreciate the quick honest review. Hopefully, I'll remember it, when the time comes and ours goes out. Once again, thank you.

It’s crazy how long it takes to produce some ice holy cow. 😬😬😬😬

Does it keep it cold in the maker or do you transfer to freezer? I recently learned that thinQ is pronounced "think" 😅
@PatrickMichael200211 ай бұрын
It keeps it frozen in the bin.
@Scotty_in_Ohio8 ай бұрын
The bin is double walled (but plastic) - it tends to keep ice frozen a decent amount of time - there's a "port" in the bottom that lets the melted water through to the water reservoir. If my bin is full at 10pm by 6am the next day it'll still be about 3/4 full with the machine powered off - just have to break up the pellets (they don't really freeze together) and by 9:30-10:00am the bin is completely full.
@Claudia29again13 ай бұрын
So is it normal for the water to be dripping down straight into the bin before it makes ice, or should it be dripping behind the bin into the bottom well? Mine is shooting the water straight into the bin hence making the ice very wet. Seems like the water should be going straight into the well but I don't see anything about this anywhere.
@PatrickMichael20023 ай бұрын
Mine only drips into the bin when cleaning. Otherwise, it should be making ice. When ice melts, it will drip back into the bin. Otherwise, my ice is dry - unless it sits for a while and melts slightly. Even then, one jam with the scoop and it breaks back into nuggets again very easily.

This is happening with mine!! It just drips regular water into the bucket for 2 minutes. Any update with yours?
@PatrickMichael200225 күн бұрын
@@Claudia29again1 It does have a defrost mode. When it starts making ice again, the coil is not cold. So, it will drip water down into the bin before it is frozen again. This typically happens after sitting over night.
@Claudia29again125 күн бұрын
@@tracey0820 It still does it, but Ive noticed the water just drains into the lower well and the top ice in the bucket isnt wet, just the very bottom which I rarely get to before it makes more ice again. I do have mine set to turn off at night and turn back on in the morning.
@tracey082025 күн бұрын
@@Claudia29again1 Thank you for the information! I was panicking a bit. As long as it’s making the ice , that’s really the important part lol.

Just got mine today. Cleaned it with a tablespoon of clorox mixed with water and then flushed it 4 times. Washed the tub. Not using the side container yet. Filled water to the water line. Started making ice immediately, then after maybe 5-10 minutes it start dripping/leaking water into the tub with ice in it. Is it suppose to do this? Will it do this everytime? Anyone else have this issue? Did I get a lemon? I'd appreciate any comments of what it could be and what resolved it. Thank you. Scott
@PatrickMichael20022 ай бұрын
It will do that when you first turn it on. The coil is not cold enough to freeze the water yet. So, it will run into the bin and down the back. Does it every time you clean it too. Watch my other videos on the troubleshooting and replacement. GE sent me a new one after the reservoir float failed. 😳

Do you use a filter with it?
@PatrickMichael20023 ай бұрын
in what regards? It has a filter and I only fill the reservoir tank with filtered water from my refrigerator.

Can I use something other than bleach?
@PatrickMichael20028 ай бұрын
Diluted bleach is the best disinfectant and is the recommended cleaner for the product. I don't know what "something else" may or may not do to the internals.
@Scotty_in_Ohio8 ай бұрын
I've seen some (and used myself) about 1/4 cup of distilled vinegar as we didn't really have bleach on-hand for our last cleaning. Keep in mind that for years and years storing water for emergencies was done with a few drops of bleach per gallon of water.
